Anita Pomerantz | 9281 comments I'm a bit heartbroken, but in the absolute closest three way race we have ever had, art was eliminated by 3 votes.

So if you voted for art, your participation points are returned to you, and you may re-vote at the link below.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q5VNR7G

It's a virtual tie right now, so these votes are going to decide the tag.

If you have not yet voted, feel free to do so.

Deadline: 9 pm EST on 8/25

My feelings exactly :(

Threw all 10 of my points towards cultural, as I really don't want paranormal to win (I only have 2 possibilities for it, whereas cultural has lots!)

message 8: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Dang, I also wanted Art.
I literally voted 5 minutes ago, and closed the tab-and already forgot which I threw my free point towards. Guess that means I'm OK with either.

Theresa | 15531 comments I was fine with all 3 but I'd actually become a little bit more excited to read Art. Dang.

I went with what will be the super easy light read choice for me since I'm starting on Proust in September.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8416 comments Drats ... I can't remember what I voted for and if I added points. For some reason I didn't write it down (and I usually do). I'll send you a p.m., Anita.

Idit | 1028 comments Darn... I knew it would happen but the triple tie gave me hope.
Going to recite now

Amy | 12921 comments Jason, if paranormal wins and you are unhappy, you can use Labyrinth of the Spirits. It qualifies. Even the title tells you that... Since we are soon reading it together anyway......

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11071 comments If there is a tie (or very close to it), would it be out of the question to select cultural for September and Paranormal for October? October is a very popular time for paranormal reads. Otherwise, the 2nd place tag might not come up for a very long time, which would be a shame because they're both very popular with our group.

Or, is there already a Fall challenge for Halloween related books?

message 15: by Nicole R (new)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Hi Nancy, I answered on the other thread as well, but we vote new each month. So the winning tag is read this month, but we do not reserve the second place tag for the following month.

Though paranormal—if it is second place—would be a great tag for next month! But, we still do a new vote each month.

Nancy, I think Halloween would fit Fall Flurries

I was just about to add this! Halloween definitely fits the Fall Flurries that we do every year. I always focus on Halloween for the October read (in Canada, I would have an alternate of reading for Thanksgiving in October).

Joy D | 10086 comments I'm kind of hoping cultural wins since we're seem to be annually inundated with paranormal for book club picks in October. For those that don't care for it, I'd rather it just be one month to "have" to read it than two.

Joy, you are like me and love reads from other cultures. It is hard to resist.

message 20: by Idit (new)

Idit | 1028 comments My only problem with Culture is that I feel like every book can fit in it one way or another
Other than that - it will make life easy next month.

But it really feels to me like it’s like choosing ‘Text’ for a tag :)

That's my feeling too. There are so many countries I'd like to read about. I'd prefer cultural, but I'm warming up to paranormal. I've been looking for paranormal books just in case, and it's nice to know that we'll be discussing them in October no matter what we select now.

Speaking of scary things, my grocery store already has a huge display of Halloween candy!

LOL-exactly. As I went through the list Anita posted I was baffled at what was there

Agreed--it's become very seasonal.
