Kelly Brigid ♡ CAUTION! This thread contains spoilers from the movie. If you haven't see it yet, leave now and don't come back until you do. You've been warned.

Okay, so everyone knows that when there's a book-movie comparison you're not going to get everything from the book into a 2 hour movie. But, what are some stupid, unimportant stuff that you wanted to see in the movie? This is just a fun thread and not really serious. :)

-Newt: Okay, he was like my favorite character adapted into the movie (right next to Chuck, since he was so PERFECT!) but, I wanted SO badly for him to say "Don't you bloody do it!" to Thomas before he dashes into the Maze. Or at least say bloody hell a few times, lol. And his limp, I NEEDED to see that, but I didn't. I'm assuming it'll be mentioned in The Scorch Trials.

-Minho: I really, REALLY, wanted some sarcastic hotheaded hilarious remarks from him! C'mon, I know you were ALL dying for his "motivational" speech. :)

Oh, and apparently his name is pronounced Meenho???

-Teresa: I know that her and Thomas already remembered the whole "WCKD/Wicked is good thing" from their dreams, but I wanted her to write it on her arm really badly, mainly cause I did it and really wanted her to. I also would have liked to sees telepathy.

-Thomas going through the Changing: I'm not the only one who wanted to see him jump on a griever, right? :) I also kind of wanted to have the Changing the same way it was in the book, I liked that better.

-Chuck's death/Gally's(?) death: Firstly I must say, that Chuck's death was so sad ;( But, I REALLY wanted to see Thomas beat the living klunk out of Gally. He "completely and utterly snapped" and I really needed to see that.

Okay, so what are some stupid stuff you really wanted to see in the movie? lol

As usual, I get really upset when important and non important things aren't included, and I completely agree with your suggestions. I definitely wanted the exit to be the Griever hole, and I was extremely disappointed when it was just like any other secret door or exit you would see in other movies.
I was also surprised that Minho wasn't sarcastic and full of remarks throughout. That was how he was supposed to be portrayed, and I'm sticking with that!
I think Gally should have also "died" those few times where he was supposed to in the books. A few resurrections were the whole point of his existence!
Thomas didn't even suffer through the Changing! I mean, where was this agonizing pain that was clearly described in the book!?!?
What is with this lack of telepathy, people! That was their whole connection, and it made the two characters seem much more attached.

I guess that's basically it, but the closer the movie would have been to the book, the happier I would be :)

((Savanha)) Ummmm how come Theresa and Thomas did not communicate through thought?!?!?!?!? That was so important, that is how they connected. I wonder if they are going to leave it out completely or try to bring it back in the second film.

The Minho situation also bothered me. He's supposed to be the comic relief and throughout the whole thing he was aloof and kept to himself until the end. Plus Theresa was supposed to be put in their make-shift jail while the grievers attacked.

Also, I was put under the impression that their was several doors that led into the maze but in the movie there only seemed to be one.

Mara I wish that Tomas and Teresa would have spoken in their minds.
Also I wish Minho gave some attitude because he didn't at all in the movie and it wasn't the Minho I was looking forward to watching even though he was amazing.
I do wish that they had a griever hole because I felt like it was really important.
And lastly I wish that Gally wasn't stabbed with that spear I wish that Tomas would have beaten him up.

May In the end, how did Gally escape the maze. Despite being stungm, grievers, and concrete walls, he appears *WITH A GUN. I never saw any gladers have a gun.

There were a few people laying on the ground with guns so he probably just got it from one of them. And his hatred of Thomas probably spurred him on

Ilana for me, i think that it had to do with the maze and the map room. I feel like in the book, you get the 4 doors, and lack of matching up the daily maps...and then you don't have the sacred map room that Alby sets ablaze. that was a big deal in the book, and we don't get any of that in the movie at all.

Mandy *I really, really, reaaaaallllly wanted to see the part where Gally threatens Minho and Minho just makes Gally eat his own words! C'mon!

*I wanted to see Thomas and Mihno kick the griever as well (also, did anyone else picture the grievers a lot smaller than what they showed? I pictured small little things that rolled into a ball to attack)

*I was wanting Alby to speak to Thomas alone and for him to go into freak-out mode (I covered my ears because I was expecting an out-of-nowhere attack on himself)

*I also wanted to hear a Glader say "I got dibs" when Teresa showed up because one of them said it in the book haha

*I really wanted Alby to announce the part where grievers attack one glader a night! Not the whole glade of gladers! what the hell was that?!

*I also expected Gally's hatred for Thomas to be stronger in the movie, it was more intensified in the book

Right?! I was looking forward to watching him get his ass handed to him! D:

Emma There needed to be more Glader slang and less actual swear words :/

Agreed. I loved how they used Greenie and Shank a few times in the movie, and how Chuck said Klunk, and Minho called Thomas shuck-face :)

lol, I totally needed Minho to threaten breaking Gally's shuck neck!

Emma And no one said "Good that" or "slinthead"

I really loved it when they said, 'good that', it's really a cute thing to say :P

And really, Newt's limp. I'm reading the second book again and it gets mentioned quite a bit, and I just really wish they included it in the movie. Besides, we end up finding out why Newt has his limp in the death cure...

I definitely wanted them to say "good that", I like the way it sounds.

And I had to see poor Newt's limp...;(

Courtney The telepathy thing between Thomas and Teresa, and also the Cliff...

message 17: by Silke (new) - added it

Silke Well...I missed a lot of stuff (I didn't like the movie that much), but yeah, the slang, Gally being suspicious of Thomas from the start due to having seen him when he went through the changing, the FREAKING beetle blades, the Kill zone experiment plaques... ugh... I'm not looking forward to the Scorch Trials...

Actually, I would guess that The Scorch Trials is going to be great! The actors for it are GREAT! :D

Hannah Every one of these are what i really wanted to see!!!!! And the final group of boys that survive is a much smaller number and many many important things were left out. It was very disappointing. Dont get me wrong i liked the movie but it definantly was not a great movie adaptation. Not percy jackson bad but not harry potter amazing.

And what about Ben (that's his name right?).Did they inclide him?

message 21: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Of course they included Ben! How much do you think they left out?

But now with this no-telepathy thing, how are they going to show the connection between Tommy and Aris? Dreams again?

Kelly Brigid ♡ ❄ sʜᴀʜᴅɪᴀ ❄ ᶫᵃᵈʸ ᵒᶠ ʷᶦᶰᵗᵉʳᶠᵉᶫᶫ ❄ wrote: "@Kelly: Yeah, that's how the name Minho is pronounced. In the book too."

lol, yeah I realized that, but I totally was mispronouncing it for the past year, so I almost laughed when I saw it in the movie, haha.

Kelly Brigid ♡ Emma wrote: "Of course they included Ben! How much do you think they left out?

Well, it doesn't necessarily have a huge impact on the plot, so I think they could just do without it.

message 24: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Oh yeah, the whole pronouncing 'Minho' thing!

When the boys said his name in the movie the first time my friend looked at me for my reaction. I always pronounced it as his name was spelt: Min-ho. In the movie, they pronounce it like Meen-ho (or is it Meen-o?) which isn't that different really. I liked it :D

Lol! I nearly cracked up when I heard it! At first I thought it was Newt's accent, but nope. haha

Oh my god. His voice is actually chilling (in a good way) it's so beautiful. I could actually listen to him speak all day, just his voice. That is one sexy voice, woo!

message 28: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma No way, I reckon Minho was perfect! I actually liked him better in the movie, I didn't really like him in the book...

Kelly Brigid ♡ *gasps* Did you just........I'm going to pretend I've never talked to you before in my life.

message 30: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Lol, I'm not even sorry.

I mean I DID like him, he was just further down the list than others. I found Minho to be too cocky, especially in the second book. He was there from the start and he became a great friend to Tommy, and I love him for that, but Minho was a little too rough at times when he could have been nicer. I don't know.

message 31: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma OMG KELLY! GET A LOAD OF THIS!!!

In this interview, right towards the end, Wes Ball says how Newt's limp WAS in the movie!! I swear, I sweeeaaaarrrr to god I did NOT see it!! But thank god it was in there (somewhere!)

Oh. My. Gosh. *quickly clicks link to video*

message 33: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Me too! I mean I've seen the movie more then 5 times not ONCE did I notice! I am so relieved it was in there though. Maybe they'll make it more noticeable in Scorch.

Heather Kantz Emma wrote: "There needed to be more Glader slang and less actual swear words :/"

^ This. I think that was the thing I was the MOST upset about. But I still really loved the movie.

Kelly Brigid ♡ Emma wrote: "Me too! I mean I've seen the movie more then 5 times not ONCE did I notice! I am so relieved it was in there though. Maybe they'll make it more noticeable in Scorch."

Gosh, I hope so too! They should just have some shot of Thomas looking over at Newt as he rubs his ankle and have him wince from the memory or something, that would be awesome :)

message 36: by Paul (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paul Greer The lack of telepathy was my biggest concern; because isn't that a HUGEMONGOUS subplot in Scorch?

I know they didn't want us to get too attached to the idea of Thomas/Theresa because Brenda.

Sorry guys: but I'm guessing if your on here: you've read all the books and the prequel.

I'm just dissapointed: because that was a MAJOR subplot: to my mind at least.

Well, it doesn't necessarily effect the outcome of the plot one way or the other. It is important but I don't see how not having it will change the outcome in The Scorch Trials.

And the reason why the director didn't add it, was because he said they decided to take out or change most of the over the top parts of the book.
