Freddie Bertolucci (not Bert) was a newsboy, scraping out a living selling papers for the major city newspapers. He was part of a community in itself. What surprised you the most about them?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I vaguely knew about these newsboys. I knew that many of them were orphans living on the streets. I was surprised that they were so organized that they could stage a strike and make it work.

I was familiar that they existed and were probably orphaned and/or living on the streets. But, the fact that they’d created their own community was a surprise. They were much more organized than I’d imagined.
