Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) A group series is a long commitment, so we need to get as much time as is reasonable, so that as many members as possible can submit a choice.

This is a YA group, so your series choice needs to have at least 25 users that have shelved it as YA. You can see that by looking at the right hand side, near the middle of the first book in the series information page.

Post all of the books in the series here, so the members can read all of the books if they need to in making a choice.

***It needs to be a series that is complete, or will be complete by the time it comes to an end for the group, because we do not want to be left hanging, waiting for a book "someday".

Christina Howard Ok dont make fun of me but I picked these up at Goodwill and thought they wpuld be a fun read.
The Name of This Book Is Secret (Secret, #1) by Pseudonymous Bosch If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (Secret, #2) by Pseudonymous Bosch This Book Is Not Good for You (Secret, #3) by Pseudonymous Bosch This Isn't What It Looks Like (Secret, #4) by Pseudonymous Bosch You Have to Stop This (Secret, #5) by Pseudonymous Bosch

Danielle Doolittle | 7 comments They really shelved the Parosol Protectorate series as YA? LOVE that series but I never really thought of it as YA. Suppose it works though, definitely worth reading!

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) Well... If you total up all the aggregate users that shelved it YA, it makes it appear that way. That is why I called it a sales pitch.

Steampunk is a pretty narrow genre, and clowns like Cassandra Clare that water it down, in the hopes of mass market swallowing. aren't enough, to make it popular enough, to get it voted here. So I just settle for the branding. :-)

Danielle Doolittle | 7 comments I agree! The Parasol Protectorate series is an amazing read no matter what they call it. ;-)

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld Behemoth (Leviathan, #2) by Scott Westerfeld Goliath (Leviathan, #3) by Scott Westerfeld

Would actually be a much better choice to try and get Steampunk introduced to the group.

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) Today is the last day to get your nomination in for the vote.

message 12: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Vestal | 56 comments I wasn't going to vote since I am new to the group. The books nominated have some bad reviews. Especially the Graceling series. Since the books nominated by Guy have much better reviews and I am curious about steampunk I am voting for the Leviathan series.

message 13: by Guy Vestal (new)

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) I will put the vote up in a little bit.

Guy Vestal - Counter Culture Critic (DaddyRose) Oh ya... And never put too much stock in reviews... People tout Cassandra Clare like she is God's right hand, and the best thing since sliced bread, but there is a large faction of mouth foaming haters that would see her nailed to cross for the garbage she puts her name on. (Well, the stuff that she hasn't stolen and put her name on is garbage, the plagiarized stuff is good.)

Oh god don't get me started on James Frey...

Personally, I have found many books I liked that many thought were tripe. :-)
