SOLVED. 5 Book Romantic Horror Series from 1970's-80's set in mysterious resort run by Marc who might be the devil

I've been trying to find one or more of this 5 book series of romantic horror books from the late 70's-80's, set in a mysterious resort (the Cove?) in California. Each book involves someone coming to this place to either find someone, solve someone's death, be reunited with a loved one or friend or just taking refuge after a car breakdown. The owner is a handsome man named Marc, who turns into a cat at times and may be the devil. In some of the books he kills or has someone killed that threaten someone he cares about, others he tries to stop the heroine from leaving. At the end of each book the heroine feels pity for Marc but relief for escaping from the Cove. Characters from one book usually appear in the next and sometimes the whole series, as either a person in conflict with Marc, a villain or someone who dies wanting to escape the Cove. The last one ends with the boyfriend of the "priestess" helping a woman and her niece escape from Marc. The stories might be a little dated now but they are unforgettable.
