Frederick The book was a let down for me, possibly because I looked forward to reading it so much. Skink with the straw was classic Skink, the rest of it not so much.
I'm a huge Hiaasen fan, hope to attend his book signing in Orlando in Nov. Not every hitter gets a hit with each at bat, this was a whiff.

Vern I agree completely. If you are a Hiaasen fan, it is worth reading, but it is really directed for the 12-16 year old fans. Entertaining, but not the Hiaasen I have come to expect and look forward to.

Bob Berry I really enjoyed this book. I am amazed at how well Hiaasen captured the voice of a teenage boy. And it is always a (somewhat disturbing) pleasure to encounter Skink.

I'm with you, Terry - this book was terrible. I love Carl Hiassen and Skink is one of my favorite literary characters. However, this book wasn't good at all. Sigh.
