message 1: by Alex (new) - added it

Alex Grayson (alexgayson) | 9 comments So I'm a new author to the community, I'm almost ready for my book to be published and decided that it was best to create my profile and add my book to Goodreads now.

I added it (my book) earlier tonight, but it went under a different author with the same name as mine. The other Alex Grayson has several works, including mine. I'm not sure what to do.

The links:

My profile: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3...

My Book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Where My Book Went: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Thank you so much for any help! This is very frustrating as I am new to the community and am not sure what to do.

Renske | 12266 comments I moved your book to a new author profile, https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
You can now claim your author profile, at the bottom is a link 'Is this you? Let us know.'
But as your book is currently lacking details it is unlikely your claim will now be accepted. an you provide more details, including is your book already published?

Alex Grayson (alexgayson) | 9 comments No, my book is not already published. I just recently finished writing it and it is now in the editing phase. What else do I need to add to be able to claim it? I don't want it up on Goodreads if I can't claim it. I understand your reasoning to an extend but as it is my book I should be able to claim it as such. Obviously, I wouldn't want someone else to claim it. Please let me know what I need to do to fix this?

Renske | 12266 comments To be clear, librarians have nothing to do with claiming profiles, that is something the staff does. Their policy is that profiles can only be claimed if there is a published book. (Perhaps to many people claiming they will publish a book, but in the end never publish that book.)
I have never heard about issues with someone claiming someone else's profile. I also think it is not very interesting to claim such a profile, if it is not yours.
