A detective tries to solve a crime by tracking all the perpetrators. I think the word "Omega/ Omega 7" is featured either as part of the title, or is the of the name of the heist gang/ or is somewhere in the book itself.
I read the book sometime in the 80's.
SPOILER ALERT: The detective finds the last member of the heist/gang by his distinctive cough. At least that is what I think I remember. Please know, I am open to any leads!
