"Rest in Pieces" at the Wood Theater (8/29/09 - 9/6/09)

Last night Ed and I enjoyed seeing "Rest in Pieces" at the Wood Theater in Glens Falls.

The play had more serious drama than I had expected. There was humor too, but the drama overtook it. Well done by all three performers. The stage setting was beautiful.

Marcia Wallace (who, years ago, played Bob Newhart's secretary on the TV sit com) was perfect in the part of a dominating, sour, crabby wife/mother who vacillates between confidence and doubt, love and hate. The play deals with her many regrets and the reactions of her husband and son.

There was no intermission but the play was divided into three parts which were dramatizations of the alternate deaths of the husband, the wife (Wallace), and then the son, each death leaving the other two people to talk about the deceased after each funeral. I'm sure the audience saw glimpses of themselves in the portrayals. I know I did.

The play is supposed to go on to Broadway after this premier in Glens Falls.
