Mini Interview with Jana DeLeon
Where do you see yourself as a writer in 10 years?
J.D. Still writing humorous mysteries with quirky southern characters and locales.
If you could live anywhere regardless of the weather, where and why?
J.D. Somewhere tropical. I love the ocean – the sound, the smell, the rhythm of the tides. It’s the most relaxing place on earth.
What genres do you like to read when you are not writing?
J.D. A bit of everything. In the last several months, I’ve read thriller, romance, young adult, new adult, horror, mystery and fantasy. My favorite author is Agatha Christie.
Do you do book signings, if no do you have plans to, when and where?
J.D. I occasionally do large group book signings, but I have been cutting way back on travel. I have asthma, and it doesn’t like constantly changing climates, which makes travel rough. I am scheduled for one book signing next year in Australia. It’s the only one I plan on doing. There are over a hundred authors attending this event. Here’s a link:
Do you “base” any of your fictional characters in your books from people in your personal life?
J.D. No, but the southern quirks and mentalities are representative of people I grew up around. Every heroine is me, of course, if I were young, hot, and capable of killing people with a Q-tip.
What are you working on now?
J.D. The fifth book in the Miss Fortune series. It’s entitled Gator Bait.
Do you have any other talents besides being a writer?
J.D. I’m a degreed accountant and held a CFO position before jumping off the corporate ladder to write books. In my younger days, I raced motocross. When I have the time, I enjoy woodworking as a hobby. I am also a classically trained violinist.
