This was a 2-volume cookbook that my Mum was using when I first started to take an interest in cooking at the age of 8. She didn't have the dust jackets, so no idea what the cover looked like. I know that the title of the cookbooks were The Penny P????? Cookbook (with the volume coming after this) Or The P????? Penny Cookbook. The second P was what I have always believed to be the last name of the author, who's first name was Penny (or Penney). The covers were hardback cloth that was a blue that leaned the tiniest bit towards blue-green-grey.

My Mum had Alzheimer's and dementia and as a result managed to destroy a great many things accidently before my Aunts admitted to my brother and I what was going on. One of those things was this set of cookbooks. I have no idea how old they were, except that I don't believe they dated as far back as my parents marriage (1947). I'm leaning towards a publishing date in the mid to late 50's. I don't remember a lot about the books, except that Mum used them a LOT and I just want to have them as a remembrance.

I can't even say if they were "regional" or not, as my Dad was Navy and we moved a lot. So they could be from: NOLA, California, Virginia, Italy, Japan, or Mass. since my parents lived in all of those places from the time of their marriage until 1963, which, as I said was the first time I noticed and paid attention to the books.

Anna | 207 comments It predates 1947, but the Prudence Penny Cookbook fits your description - two volumes, PP in the title, blue-grey-green covers.

OMG--that's IT. Maybe my Mum had a later re-issue, or someone gave her their old copy. Now to see if I can find a set for ME.

Note--I went to ebay to check it out, and they continued issuing the cookbook for many years. The correct colour on the set my Mum had was the 1955 edition.
