Librarians to the rescue!
Are you able to delete the entry Field of Dreams by Phil Alden Robinson which is a dvd entry not a book.
B the BookAddict wrote: "Are you able to delete the entry Field of Dreams by Phil Alden Robinson which is a dvd entry not a book."I didn't delete it but did add a librarian note questioning it, so hopefully someone with greater powers will take care of it.
Only a super-librarian can delete an entry. I posted it on the appropriate board, so an authorized person can deal with it ;)
B the BookAddict wrote: "Are you able to delete the entry Field of Dreams by Phil Alden Robinson which is a dvd entry not a book."We don't delete because anything with an ISBN will just automatically return to the database. I see that someone has noted it as "NOT A BOOK" under author. I'll edit it a bit more to make it clearer.
I am a super-librarian and I'm often happy to help if I see a post in this thread and I can help. I'm also happy to take private messages with requests, though if I'm busy I often ask people to post in the GR Librarians group. Also, I used to be an extremely active librarian but haven't been for 3-1/2 years or so, and I don't know as much as I did. I'll do librarian work only when I'm 100% confident I know what I'm doing. Every so often I come across a request that I think can be better addressed by the group or another librarian.

Do DVDs really have International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN)?? That is just wrong.
Do DVDs really have International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN)?? That is just wrong."Everything does. You wouldn't believe it. I probably should make the entire title NOT A BOOK so it won't pop up when people search for the F of D book. Art supplies, dolls, blank notebooks, board games, and so many other surprising things.

So will all that miscellaneous #x!& end up here on GR then? If you don't ever delete things that have an ISBN, how can GR prevent it?
Thanks very much for your help and information, Lisa.I had seen ISBNs on board games and the like but not understood that meant it would pop up on GR.

B., Every single thing used to be on GR. They've done something over the last several years to keep some of those non-books of the site, but many are still here and need to be in the database as NOT A BOOK, especially for the author but in the "title" too.
When I was a very active librarian most of my time was spent combining book editions, adding covers, and marking items as NOT A BOOK. I did other things too but those alone were like a half time job.
Another error, lovely librarians.Auhor Elizabeth Gaskell also appears as Elizabeth Gaskell-Gleghorn; linked to an edition of North and South. See https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Fixed author and combined that book with other editions of North and South.
I hope others will reply also, but I think it's like Iain Banks and Iain M. Banks having books listed separately, with him using the M. for when he writes science fiction.
Gill, later on, I checked how it was originally published and apparently it is correct as Joanne M Harris. I thought I had deleted by question but obviously did not. Thanks for your reply:)
I am currently reading Heart Mountain, but the edition I have which is an ebook which is to be published 2/21 by Open Road Media is not on Goodreads . It is listed on Amazon. I'm not sure how to add the edition I'm reading. Can someone help ?Thanks .
Hey Librarians! The book Fatal Interview: Sonnets is 52 pages long. The length isn't listed. Please add it if you get a chance. Thanks!
Another hopefully easy one. This one has no length specified and should be 32 pages: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Can one of you add the length when you get a chance? Thanks!

Oh goodness, sorry for being such a nuisance, but there's one more! This is what I get for reading all these Millay books from the 20's & 30's that have been out of print a while.
When you have time, Wine from These Grapes is missing the number of pages too! It should be 91 pages.
Thanks!

I've added the number of pages and the language. Is it a hardcover like written in the description? There was the asin in the isbn field and I took it away.

I'll check if it has an isbn when I get home dely. I really appreciate your and Gill's help with these! When there's no number of pages it messes up the progress display, which bothers me way more than it should. ;)

Could a librarian please add the pages to the following book? 234 pages according to amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Vampires-Blood...Only Vampires Cry Blood
Myst wrote: "Could a librarian please add the pages to the following book? 234 pages according to amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Vampires-Blood......"Done. I added also some other missing details. Couldn't add the Asin because it's already taken by another edition with a different cover.

I have combined them. Now it should be ok.
Would somebody help me connect these two books:James Baldwin
James Baldwin: A Biography
They are the same!
Thank you.
Chrissie
Just curious, how does data for characters in a book or setting get into a books information? Some books in a series have the information, others in the same series don't.Kiss of Midnight tells you the characters and setting.
Meanwhile Stroke of Midnight for example shows the character/s, but it doesn't tell you the setting is Morocco.
If I try to edit the details, I'm asked if it's fiction or not, genre, subject, pace etc.

If you go in "edit details", on the bottom, under "language", you see "Work settings" where you can add literary awards, characters, series and then also book settings.
