Tasha That's so cute!

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I know. The snow is a novelty for me too. This will be only my 5th winter in an area with snow.

We have used a similar method in the beach, and it consist in tie a bottle to a chair with a long rope and keep in the water. It depends of the temperature of the water how much you can cool the bottle, but it's always cooler than have it under the sun.

Yeah - for a 60 year old! LOL! Actually, it is nice to see someone with a fresh outlook to something we see as so mundane.

@Sandra - I hope you keep on enjoying the snow. I like it after a fresh snow fall when it's all crisp, white, and sparkling in the sun. I don't care for the cold that goes along with it, though.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments We often use outside in winterk to keep drinks cold when there's no room in the fridge. Works great!

Thankfully we didn't have much snow yesterday after all. And today is one of my favourite kinds of weather: crisp, cold, sunny and blue skies. The last time we had a blue sky was weeks ago!

Mariab | 3059 comments We use the method of tie the bottles and put them in water, but in small streams. The trick is to find the wather popup. Is always very cool an refreshing

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Sure wish we'd get some good snow here. Hasn't happened since 1985 when we got 18+ inches.

Could happen again tho : )

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL !!

message 1257: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2098 comments Duh, I'm freezing my a$$ off here, we currently have -20 C (that's -4 F). Glad to leave for London tomorrow, they have predicted temps even up to +10 C in a few days (and not much rain either). The only thing that worries me at the moment is the fact that our older daughter was diagnosed with a middle ear infection yesterday, so she's on antibiotics now. Ear infection + flight = not a good combination. I will take her to see an ENT specialist this evening to make sure she is able to fly. Will return on 6th January (hopefully), so I wish a Happy New Year to everybody!

Have fun in NY! I went to Bulgaria once. Sofia and Varna. I got to sing with the opera orchestra in Varna. Good times!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Whew! What a stressful weekend. I got mixed up and Christmas had me thinking it was Saturday so I woke up thinking the 26 was Sunday and time for my Green Bay Packers to play the Detroit Lions for control of the NFC North. Winner gets a buy for next week loser plays wild card game . finally 4:30 pm Sunday came only our slightly injured star quarter back leaves in the second qyarter after reinjuring his calf. Not good with playoffs up next. Luckily he was back in quarter 3 and they won so 2 weeks to rest and prepare. So 2 weeks of no stress for the fans either.I don't watch every game but this one I had been antucupating for a coupke weeks and was on edge.

message 1262: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I was all mixed up with Christmas too. On the 26th I said, "Yesterday felt like Saturday and today feels like Sunday." My niece commented that at least I had my days in consecutive order.

Today is Monday, right? I'd better get ready to work. I refuse to start work though when it's still dark outside (at 8:48 a.m.)

Casceil | 2728 comments The holidays were confusing. My husband and I both worked on the day after Christmas, which felt like it was simultaneously a Monday and a Friday. That part we get to do again next week, with Thursday off but not Friday.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Brrrrr! It is cold here tonight in Hillsboro, OR. It is 32F (0C) and the east wind is blowing at 25 mph (40 Kph) so that it feels like 18F (-8C) outside. That's cold for us!!! I don't mind the cold but I hate the wind.

I am going to put another blanket on my bed and snuggle in for the night (already stayed up too late). I have to go to work tomorrow and then I will be off for 5 days before I have to go back again.

message 1268: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments It's pretty cold here in the UK at the moment too. We have been colder than Iceland for the past day or so apparently. It got down to -9 in some parts last night and daytime temperatures have been struggling to get much above 2C which is pretty cold for us. Perfect excuse to try out my new electric blanket which I got for Christmas! :) The weather has been lovely though, it may be cold but it's been really sunny and frosty which is so much nicer than it being mild and wet!

message 1269: by Tasha (new)

Tasha It's getting colder here on the east coast (US) as well. It definitely feels like winter this morning while out with the dogs.

message 1287: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I need coffee! I was well behaved last night because I had to drive home, but there was lots of hugging and kissing going on at the pub bringing in the British New Year. We even had the local pipe & drum band blow out our ears. After we raised our glasses to friends and family in Scotland and England, we went to a restaurant that had a special New Year's Eve 5 course meal. I got home in time to sit on the edge of my bed and watch the fireworks.

Happy New Year everyone!
