Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I just updated. I am still checking to see what is different. I hope they fixed what keeps knocking me out of the site. It is so annoying!

message 1202: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I think it's mostly the updates page that's different. I can now like comments and updates and easily add books to my tbr, just like on the website. It seems like updates on comments made in groups are gone though :(

Not much else has changed I think. I still can't read spoilers or add a link to a book. But who knows, maybe after the next update?

message 1203: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I do not see much difference on my iPod app but I will have to get on my tablet and see. Tomorrow though. It is 2:24am and I better be getting some sleep. I am supposed to go shopping tomorrow with my daughter. Night, Peggy. :)

message 1204: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Maybe you have to manually install the update? My phone does it automatically, but my previous phone didn't.

Sleep well Cherie!

message 1205: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments yes, only the updates page looks different (similar to the website), but we can hope it's the first step.

message 1206: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Cool Kazen. (I mean growing up near me not the tragic story).

All santas gifts are in the back of my car except for 2 my wife put under tree for each of the kids to have Christmas Eve if they're good. She told them santas elves dropped them off. Today the kids helped her wrap their gift to me which also went under the tree. Also had same paper as the other two. Luckily my 4 yr old son didn't ponder any longer than to say look mommy we have the same paper as santa's elves.

Santa did use different paper or someone would have a lot of rewrapping to do. And next year santa's elves better have different paper as well. That was a closr one this year.

message 1208: by Tasha (new)

Tasha lol! That is so cute, Travis. It gets harder every year so enjoy that you guys got off easy this time. :D

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments Cute! Not much gets by the little ones. :)

message 1210: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Hilarious. He was probably so excited that you guys had the same wrapping it was a completely innocent remark.

I'm at my father in law's down outside Hobart in a building that is about 200 yrs old. The same time my great great great grandfather owned the pub in field over the back fence. Lovely and quiet. The tenants in the shop make the best Mexican food in Tasmania (acclaim, I have not experienced it yet), and the neighbours have a duck farm. Perfect except I left the book I decided I wanted to read at home somehow. I have two back ups as usual but I have no idea how I forgot to pack it!

message 1211: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Wow, that's really awesome that you can actually be that close to your family history. That's really great. Have a great time! I always pack those backup books as well. :)

message 1212: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Backup books first. Passports and medicines second.

Enjoy the visit!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments In the words of frosty the snowman Happy Birthday!

message 1228: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments With a surprisingly mild climate (otherwise we have a fierce weather here over 33° at night and a humidity of 80%), and more food than should be humanly legal (tons of meat), the half of the tribe -including all sort of pets- celebrated Xmas- eve last night.
The kids (from 6 to 40) started a mini-war of firecrackers (small, harmless and not rackety) and catches Grandma in between, who had to take cover in a corner.
Today is lunch with the other half of the family

Tasha I hope all who celebrate had a wonderful holiday today!

message 1231: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments We just missed out on a white christmas. Thursday was rainy and grey, yesterday was sunny, and today there's actually snow outside. The forecast is up to 10 cm, which is quite a lot around here.

Did I already mention I hate snow? It's okay for a bit if I have nowhere to go, but it always very quickly turns into a grey, dirty, icy mess. My plan is to stay inside all day. I just hope I have enough left overs in the freezer to make dinner tonight...

message 1232: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments But the first day the snow is always white and clean, go outside and make a snowman, Peggy!

We are still waiting for the snow here... This is not looking like winter at all.

message 1233: by Tasha (new)

Tasha It's been a pretty mild winter here as well. Too mild...

message 1234: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie It has been a mild winter here for us as well. We had one day that it snowed but it was gone by 4pm. I only like snow, as well, the first day. Our dog, Blake, LOVES the snow. It is a lot of fun watching him run around and burrow in it :-)

message 1235: by Tasha (new)

Tasha It is fun to watch dogs play in the snow, they really do seem to love it. We had one day of snow too and then it was gone before the next day.

message 1236: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments It's weird because I've heard we'll have a horrible winter. It was even named T-Rex Winter... I don't really want a hard winter, of course. Last winter was hard enough... But a little snow would be great.

message 1237: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I thought it was going to be bad too. Yeah, last winter was tough but I agree, but a bit of snow would be nice. My daughter will be disappointed if we don't get any more snow.

message 1238: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Merry Christmas to all! I would have liked a little snow if only to break up the rain. Christmas Day and yesterday were pretty but we had a week of clouds and rain leading Joan's it is cloudy and damp again today.

I'm not letting it bother me though. We are in he car with the camper hooked up and headed for a few days at the beach. Not likely to be very warm but it's still ocean! I am very lucky my office is closed between Christmas and new year so it's like a "free" vacation. Looking forward to some quality time with some new yarn and some books I've been sadly neglecting.

Not sure what kind of Internet or cell service we'll have, so if I don't get a chance to stop by again happy new year to you all!

message 1239: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Happy early New Year to you as well, Melissa! Hope you have a great time at the ocean with your family:)

message 1240: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Enjoy Melissa, and Happy New Year!

My thougths exactly

message 1242: by Kirila (new)

Kirila | 660 comments Merry Christmas to all of you!

Here (in Bulgaria) it finally snowed as well. I usually like snow, but since I am flying tomorrow and need my flight to not be cancelled, I would prefer if the snow would stop.

I spent the holidays with my parents, and that's why I haven't been much on my laptop and thus on goodreads, and on Monday I am going to visit some friends in New York (first time in the US!). If you can recommend some awesome bookshops, that would be great :).

Happy celebration of the New Year to everybody! I am already preparing a book to start on the 1st that's part of a series :)

message 1243: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Have a safe flight Kirila and hope you enjoy NY! It is awesome :) hope you get to visit Central Park! Not sure about book stores but definitely check out FAO Schwartz. It has the piano from the movie, Big. At least it did when we went in 2012 :)

message 1244: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Have fun in NY Kirila!

message 1245: by Tasha (new)

message 1246: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Kirila, it has been decades since I have been to New York City, but when I was there last, the bookstore to go to was The Strand. http://www.strandbooks.com/about-stra...

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Fun and safe trip Kirila!

message 1248: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I spent Christmas at my parents' with both of my siblings and their families. Since several of them are from Hawaii, they were pretty excited about the snow. My brother-in-law created what he's been calling the Canadian cooler - wine bottles and pop cans shoved into the snow to cool. At least it made room in the fridge for the turkey leftovers.

message 1249: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Dec 27, 2014 05:47PM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments We have used this method too, and it's actually faster than the fridge!

message 1250: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments We've done it a lot too over the years, but it's a novelty for my brother-in-law. He's like a kid with the snow.
