Whatcha Doin'?

Sarah, you must be so excited - I'm excited for you! What a great adventure.
Stephanie, I am not a hockey fan but can definitely relate to your excitement. I have tickets to see my favorite band in concert in a little over a week and there is not enough *squeeee* to describe it.
Y'all can banish me now if you like... but I confess it: I am a black Friday shopper. (Though I could not go so far as to fight over a sale! That is crazy!) I used to shop for the bargain items when my kids were little... as they've gotten older, I have less reason to be out in the fray, as the things they want/need are not what drives the crowds. However, my daughter started begging to come with me about three or four years ago, so even though there has not been much in recent years for me to get excited about sale-wise, it's something I look forward to for spending the time with her. And now that so many stores are starting their sales on Wednesday and Thursday, we've found that 5 or 6 am on Friday morning is an excellent time to shop, as the stores are practically empty of shoppers and already restocked after the first frenzy.

That looks more dangerous than is it when it's played on grass!"
As someone who watched her fellow back snap his foot in two on the weekend, and then watched someone break their team mates nose with a stick by accident, I guarantee grass is insanely dangerous still. Particularly when it's played by a group of numptys (including myself) who have no idea what they are doing.

Not a shopper either. My shoes have holes in them at the moment and I'm just wearing thongs (flip flops to the rest of you) to deal with it as I can't bring myself to go to a shop.
Shops are open at 5am? That's crazy talk.

I hate shopping too. I can only stand it when the shops are almost empty, nobody bothers me, and I don't have to wait for a friend/mom/sister also fitting things on.

Congrats Melissa on the promotion and Nanowrimo - I don't think I'd have made it past a couple of days if I tried something like that.
That sounds painful Rusalka - I'll take what I said back about one style of hockey being less dangerous than the other. I got all inspired by the Olympics and wanted to join a hockey team but I'm probably rubbish and the danger element also put me off a bit.

Don't forget boot hockey. On ice but without skates... Played a lot of that with friends in my university years.... Hey... As long as you don't have to stop...

Sounds fantastic!
To be fair, that was a terrible week. Usually it's just my brother stacking it and at least one big welty bruise on someone.

Rusalka, I wear flip flops all summer long. And in winter I wear my favorite boots. I don't need many shoes to keep me happy. :)

This has been on my bucket list since I first created one many eons ago, lol; I never thought I would get the opportunity for it to occur ☺ We had a United Way Auction at work today and one of our Board of Directors donated the tickets and I won the Auction; woohoo!! This is my birthday and Christmas and I love me present all wrapped into one for this year and next, lol!

I have 2 boys and somehow??? neither one of them are hockey fans ~ I swear they were somehow switched at birth, lol. Need to share this with someone who loves the game as much as I do ☺

I can't believe your boys don't like hockey. I'm mean how could they not? It is the best sport there is :-)
My favorite part are the fights! Especially goalie fights! Fighting doesn't happen too often anymore though :(
When I worked for a junior team we had to run down to the bottom of our sections during fights to make sure the crowd didn't throw stuff onto the ice..I would usually be cheering on the fights along with the crowd though ;-)
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see the players get hurt, it just kind of brings the adrenaline up for the game, lol!

Rusalka, hope your fellow's doing ok? Hockey, of any kind, is not for the weak hearted!

Lol, we sound like 2 peas in a pod Stephanie. That's why I love the Flyers so much; from way back in the day when they were known as the Broad Street Bullies.

There is a good rivalry between them and my Devils!! I've started cheering on the Blues though since Brodeur signed with them! I'm happy to see him playing even if it isn't for my Devils :)

I will be a sad fan when he retires :(

go Flyers! ;)

:-) I think he still has till he's 50 :-) didn't Dominick Hasek plat till he was 50? If he can do it, so can Marty :-)

go Flyers! ;)"
Boo. Tasha;-)

(I think we have hijacked this thread and turned it into a hockey hub, lol)

:D

HAHAHA :)

Travis, all those things are very very good, but they aren't Hockey!! Wow, Bruins in the family and you just casually toss it aside?! You can send that family member across the border to me, lol

Christmas cheer but be warned Rodney Carrington is a bit vulgar but this cracks me up every holiday season

Is NHL hockey on grass/court or on ice? I played hockey at school and hated it. But when we had the Olympics here in London, I watched all the hockey matches - I really got in to watching. Shame it's not on TV here like the football is.
