Yeah... some of the "perks" to live in the subtropical. We had have to deal ALWAYS with parasites. Years ago, when I lived in another house, I used to place old wood in the garden to make the vermin stay away from the house (a suggestion from my brother, who is biologist), and I did so, because I didn't want to spray so much chemicals in the ground -it contaminates the water in the underground

One of the books on the list, I did read, but I did not vote for it and one I did not read, but I voted for it anyway. There are two on the same list that I read, that I could not decide on, and that was hard. I wanted them both, so I had to make a choice. I am still not sure I picked the right one.

Are you on your phone's app? I think there's a way to switch the order in which they are listed.
My laptop did something funky today. There was no comment box, just a link to post a comment. When I clicked on it, I was prompted to sign in. I was signed in! It's been a bizarre kind of day.

I voted for Mr Mercedes too :) That and The Miniaturist were the only books I voted for in the final round.

You might need to think about upgrading to some hip waders, Travis, or those waders that fly fishermen wear that come up to your arm pits. Of course, it won't help if you are not tall enough. Ugh, four feet of snow. Better keep your snow blower on your back pourch to tunnel your way out to the milking shed. What do the cows do in four feet of snow? Ice milk anyone?
I hope it will not be so bad for you!

Stay safe Travis!
I've been a bit preoccupied this week, but I have been reading everyone's comments with interest. I may have come out of hiding today as after 24 hours of umming and ahhing I had to feed the possible troll on my Hot Zone review. I really need to learn when not to bite.

I see both you and Sarah replied to my comment but I wasn't getting the notifications!
Speaking of people not posting - where are the Detroit sisters?

I think the sisters are already getting some serious snow, Janice. Hope they are staying snug and warm.
I saw your quilt pictures, Janice. Beautiful work!

I have been a bit crazy at work, and I must say playing a lot of computer games (one came out I've been waiting for). And it's the crazy time of year. Birthdays, birthdays, end of financial year for work, Christmas, birthdays... So I've been reading comments here in between things, but just haven't replied much. I hit the 19 October, then blink at it's the 5 January.
And Janice, nope. But a lot milder than expected which is good.

Ok, I better quit lurking at work, pretending to be working and go to the grocery store. My granddaughter called and said there was nothing to eat. Ha! I have been dieting and haven't bought any cookies, baked goods or junk food. She has eaten all of the fruit, peanut butter, cheese, cereal, freezer meals, bread and pasta I bought her two weeks ago. (Did I mention that I HATE to grocery store?) I think she is down to celery and flour tortilla shells and a can of Manwitch. She said that she didn't have any milk to put into her tea either. I'm going.....

That's what we sometimes call a GIANT sandwich. Eg. "That's not a sandwich, that's a Manwich!". Not sure how you would get that in a can.

I've ill which is really frustrating. I felt pretty yucky yesterday but today I feel worse so I've had to rearrange all my clients and I'm staying in the warm today.
4/6 feet of snow is crazy Travis - hope it doesn't affect you too much. That would be the end of the world here! It's been really quite mild here in the UK - only the last few days has it start to feel colder and it's still not as cold as it usually is at this time of the year.

Woohoo Peggy! I vote surprise him with them tonight ;)

Feel better Sarah! I hate being annoyingly sick too.
Is it dodging a bullet Travis? That still adds up to 6ft of snow. And again, not a snow expert, but doesn't it tend to stack up on top of itself? I'll be asking for some of it come Sunday when we're hitting 37C (roughly 98F I think) in spring. And I'll be playing hockey in the hottest part of the day! yay!
Yeah that review is Frankensteining itself. I'm all fine on people commenting on reviews if they feel like it, I was just worried from personal comments on her profile. A good reminder that we're not in a bubble, that sometimes people we don't know and have different opinions read our reviews as well.

Oh!! Wow! Post-docs are so rare in Aus so to get that landing in your lap is pretty ... bloody AWESOME!

Congrats Peggy! That's great! :)

Love the video Travis!

Sarah, it will be our first concert in the UK, but we've been to London before (and Edinburgh too). And I've been to Brighton, Loughborough and Portsmouth for work.

that's great! congrats. :D
