Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I'm on my way out the door with my car keys and an Atticus "special" sandwich in-hand. I'm going to pick up my grandsons and take them to a Halloween party at their Mom's work.

Canadian Dragon | 1020 comments Going to work tonight dressed up as a cat the guy a Tim Hortons had a funny look when he gave me a coffee -- lol

message 653: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments We had a lot of tricky treaters this year. Hubby got home from work before me so he took care of the first batch. The poor dog was barricaded in the kitchen so she couldn't rush the front door (not her favorite holiday). I like the little ones all dressed up as who-knows-what. They get bigger as the night goes on to the point where they have no costumes and plastic ziplock bags or back packs for candy collection. It's almost 9 now so were sitting in the dark watching Dracula.

message 654: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Well, our one trick-or-treater (my neighbor's not-quite-two-year-old) came and left a couple of hours ago. Now watching Young Frankenstein with the boys.

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments I looked out my window this morning and saw a nun standing outside the convenience store across the street. I was thinking how odd to see a nun here, when I realized that she must have gone to work in costume. I went to work one day as Mimi from The Drew Carey Show. It's amazing how being dressed in costume can make you act the part. I was sassy all day!

As for today... no trick or treaters at my door. :( At least there wasn't huge snowdrifts like there were last year.

message 656: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I have never had a trick or treater thats what happens when you live miles away from people. Peace and quiet. Except in the house where my 4 yo son was on such an extreme sugar high he probably would have been bouncing off the walls except instead the living room floor was apparently ice and he was skating. Evidently there was a jump in between the kitchen and living room and some form of obstacle in front of tv which made him continually wipe out. This was non stop for 90 minutes then surprisingly hr went to bed when he was told to. Mom and Dad were a bit wore thin by the ice skating by now. Impressively he spun circles in one spot for 10-15 straight minutes and only fell about 5 times. Never threw up which was becoming a concern I'm not sure you're supposed to be able to spin circles for such a length. I would have lasted about 20 seconds

message 657: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments During this he would occasionally run up and tag me. I tagged him back a couple times. Then the last time I tagged him he says No don't tag me throw me. Throw me across the room so I can fly. Seemed like a bad idea. He only went to family so there shouldn't have been any angel dust in his candy but I'm not so sure. Maybe they were licking blotter paper at daycare except if they were giving the kid acid I think they would charge more

message 658: by Tasha (new)

Tasha HAHAHA! Sounds like he had a fun night. My daughter had fun last night too. It's always over too quickly for her. She was wiped out by the time we got home, she was hyped all day for Halloween. Today is a rainy so, so glad it wasn't yesterday!

message 659: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Ahhhh... I don't miss those days. LOL! Does your son have a sugar hangover this morning?

message 660: by Adara (new)

Adara | 1 comments It was so cold and rainy here in Canada! I took my siblings out to the subdivisions since they're closer together but it was so cold we just went to the mall.
Which is a win win for everybody ;)

I like the line "I put the Ag in Swagger!"

message 666: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments My wife liked that line as well. I liked the farmer jammin to his radio because you know I do that. Those guys have bunch of paradies from gangham style to katy perry to fresh prince theme song

Mariab | 3059 comments Storm blew the city yesterday. A lot of fallen trees. We have had to endure many hours without energy

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Ha! Pop over to the book meme's thread and you can replace beef with book.

I'm all about the books, about the books....

message 673: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Are you a hunter, too? I haven't had wild game in a while.

message 674: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Yes I hunt. Goose is new to me this year though. I get so many and allow them to hunt geese they always come back telling me how much fun it is. Turns out it is. I was surprised by how little meat there is in a goose. Mostly feathers. By there size I thought they were more solid like a turkey. Probably why turkeys try not to have to fly

Domesticated goose have more flesh (and are less hard)

message 679: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments And domestic geese have more fat.

I grew up not far from a domestic pheasant farm. The area also had lots of wild pheasant which my dad would hunt. Of all wild fowl, pheasant is by far my favourite.

BurgendyA | 105 comments I am not really doing anything interesting at the moment. I'm trying to catch up with readings. I wish I had something new that I was up to. ={

message 681: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Well I'm back from my weekend away which was fantastic. Had a rather expensive meal and wine but it was tasty but the main highlight was the day learning to steer (apparently that's the correct term rather than drive) a narrowboat, turn one round (no easy feat when it's 58 feet long), and go through locks. It was amazing! And I did much better than I was expecting to. I am knackered now though so just as well I have no work today. No I'm even more excited (if that's possible) about picking up our boat. We did go see it at the weekend though which will have to do for now!

message 682: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments That sounds nice Sarah! I'm impressed by your steering skills, it definitely seems (and must be) difficult.

I visited a book festival this weekend, but didn't buy as many books as I wanted to. I went with my sister and niece for our yearly 'nieces day', but my sister got tired of the books after 30 minutes already! We also had a very very delicious high tea afterwards.

message 685: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments Congrats Sarah! In no time you will be racing boats like in those 007 movies!

message 686: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments Everybody seems to have enjoyed their weekends! The storm this Saturday left us without water ( not fun having to make the grooming with bottled water! )
X-(

Janice (jamasc) | 59889 comments Enjoy the soak, Mariab.

message 691: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks guys! I doubt there'll be any speeding Mariab - our maximum speed it 4 miles an hour!

Shame you didn't get to take your time browsing Peggy - next time you'll know to take someone who loves books as much as you (or go by yourself!)

Glad your water and power is back on Mariab.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments So my little brother and I were in Melb this weekend. Our elder brother in Canberra's partner "decided" to go into labour. So we now have a little nephew four weeks early. He's a bit cute (and I'm not a baby fan).

We have other nephews and nieces to our eldest brother but haven't really met them/been involved with them as they are in the UK, and Lexx has 10 nephews and nieces. But this is the first one to my brothers who I grew up with, and it's a little cool. Lexx has a really large extended family who I love, but this part of my family is two very small nuclear families that got blended, so I know that we have a very small "village" and we now have a little person to look after. Big responsibility!

message 693: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Congrats to you and your family, rusalka! that's so exciting. :)

message 694: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Sarah, glad to hear you did well steering that boat!

message 697: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Nov 04, 2014 04:45AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments Lol thanks guys, but my only achievement is that I have a brother who managed to knock someone up ;) Not sure if that even counts as an achievement!

message 698: by Tasha (new)

Tasha hahaha :) but still, you have a new little one that you seem smitten with.

message 699: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19205 comments hehe fair point. He's not crying yet, he's a little premmie (but 7 pounds), so he makes cute little squeaks, like a small puppy. Ask me again when he starts crying ;)

message 700: by Tasha (new)

Tasha yeah, good point... ;)
