Our September group read theme is On the Run.

Our fellow group member Agnieszka wrote such a thorough description that I am going to repost it here for clarification:

"For me it's any story line where the (main) character(s) has/have to flee because of:
- beeing framed for a crime not committed / their lives are threatened directly / they witnessed a crime / case of mistaken identity leads to their lives in danger / a conspiracy they discovered / protcting a person in danger / a kidnapping (gone wrong) - so they can survive until the perp is in custody or killed or the threat to their lives no more existing
- after a botched job - so they can either get it done right or survive
- an operative tracking someone can fit this bill often as well
- I'd even count in cases of criminals after committing a crime if s/he's a vital or main character and it's a major part of the story

Basically every story line where being on the run is part of the story line and not only a minor plot (e.g. when the perp's identity is uncovered at the end of the book and s/he flees or tries to)."

So you can pick a book that you'd like to read in this theme (with Action/Adventure content) that meets the standard qualifications for the group read selection process.

(Please recall that we don't vote for books we've already had as a group read--There's a link below to check our list of previous group reads).

Here are the other considerations:

1. One nomination per group member. The books must be nominated with a Goodreads link by clicking on 'add book/author'. If a book does not have a Goodreads link, it will not be added to the poll.
2. Books need to be readily available, ie, in print (able to buy new or in ebook format).
3. Books should have some degree of action/adventure content.
4. Past group reads are not eligible to be nominated again. The past group discussions remain open for members to comment. You can view the list of past reads here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

5. Books must be either standalone or first in a series (or they may be later in a series if constructed to be read as a standalone).
6. Authors are asked not to nominate their own books or solicit nominations from members.

Please feel free to include a blurb for the book so others know a little about the book, along with your Goodreads book link.

The poll will go up on August 25th.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 237 comments I nominate Pushing Brilliance Pushing Brilliance (Kyle Achilles #1) by Tim Tigner by Tim Tigner

HE DIDN'T DO IT.
He really didn't.
But proving it,
will be a killer.

Framed for murder and on the run, former Olympic biathlete Kyle Achilles is also in the crosshairs of assassins' guns. Why? He has no idea. He's fighting blind against two master strategists and one extraordinary invention - known as Brillyanc.

Achilles' only ally is the other prime suspect, a beautiful Russian mathematician who is either the best or worst person to ever enter his life. Katya was engaged to Achilles' brother - before he died.

Chasing clues while dodging bullets, Achilles and Katya race around the globe, uncovering a conspiracy conceived in Moscow, born in Silicon Valley, and destined to demolish both the White House and the Kremlin. Along the way a lost soul finds purpose, a broken heart confronts forbidden love, and America gains a new hero.

Packed with heart-stopping surprises, paced by razor-sharp plotting, and populated with richly rendered characters, Pushing Brilliance will leave you breathless and longing for more.
