Should I read Kane Chronicles?

Kelly Brigid ♡ ...should I? I love the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series, but The Kane Chronicles...I don't know. Seems like Riordan couldn't think of anything else to do so he decided to do a spin on Egyptian gods. The reason why I'm asking if I should read it, is because I've heard people saying how it's kind of tied in with the HoO series, so I might wanna read them before Blood of Olympus. But is it even any good?

Noor Well I got up to page 153 in the first book but it was really confusing. So I stopped reading it

nekku Imo, PJO was way better. I guess it was funnier and definitely more interesting, but Kane has it's own merit. You should read it.
Beware though.
One of the main characters is way too easy to dislike.
She's the reason why I sort of just shrug when people ask if I liked the Kane Chronicles.

Kelly Brigid ♡ Hmm...I may give it a try. And I've already heard Sadie is very annoying, lol

Shannon C. YES. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I read it and loved it. You will do the same. It's all awkward boys, chicken men, raging British rebels, Arabian beauty queens turned into pottery, muffin eating, saxophonists, dead dads and baboons turned Lakers fans. Drop everything and read it now!

Kelly Brigid ♡ Uh...you lost me at chicken men. :)

That wasn't my intention, but, hey, whatever works XD

Natalie P. Shannon (the chicken men girl) actually recommended the series to me, and I wasn't really sure, because I thought it was Rick Riordan trying to extend the whole god/goddess thing a lot. But it was actually amazing, and just as good as the Heroes of Olympus series.

Sara YES!!! YOU SHOULD READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!! It made me laugh so much. I loved it just as much if not more that PJO.

Julia Kane Chronicles uses a formula similar to Percy Jackson, but it is its own series. The two are really not connected. Rick did write two crossover stories. These crossovers are just for fun for fans of both series. There are also some Easter Eggs in Kane Chronicles for Percy Jackson fans to find. But they're not important to either story. Again, they're just fun for PJ fans.

Yes, Sadie is annoying. But that's kind of a silly reason to dismiss an entire series. She has some admirable qualities as well.

You say enjoyed Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but to determine if you will enjoy Kane Chronicles, you have to consider Why? If you just like the characters, you should know that the characters in Kane Chronicles are quite different. If you like the concept of modern people being born with godly powers, that concept exists (a little bit differently) in Kane Chronicles. If you enjoyed getting to know the Greek Gods, and have any curiosity at all about the Egyptian Gods, then you should definitely read Kane Chronicles.

And then there are the chicken men: there's plenty of fun silliness to be found in both series. There's also plenty of supernatural fights, and strong relationships being developed (although Kane Chronicles puts more emphasis on sibling relationships than boyfriend-girlfriend relationships).

I wouldn't say they're better than PJO or HOO, but it is definitely a good series in my opinion, and I remember liking it quite a bit (I think I may have given it a 4 star...)

i got to page 154 before stopping, so confusing...

Sic Transit Gloria The Kane Chronicles are my favorite. I find that Riordan matures in his writing in this series from the Percy Jackson books. Also, the Kane Chronicles are a shade bit darker than Percy Jackson, which I like.

Ooh darker. Uh, I mean. Matured in his writing style. Yep, that's what caught my eye in that comment...
