Amy Thomas | 3 comments I'm very new to YouTube, what are good points to put into a book review video??

message 2: by Kelli (new)

Kelli (potterdancer) Amy I would suggest that you watch a couple of the famous booktubers and see what they describe. You definitely need to have a strong opinion on whatever you are reviewing. What you like and dislike is a good place to start out from. If you plan on doing spoiler reviews then talk about the plot and what your opinion is on characters, info dumps, plot twists, setting, etc. Hope that helps!

Anna (booksbyanna) | 7 comments I also really like Regan from PeruseProject as she is really enthusiastic and honest about her book reviews. I have gotten some great book recommendations from her.
Best of Luck!

Cait ♡ MintedReads (mintedreads) I did my first book review last month, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c-G1... I was unsure about what to include too but I think I covered everything, I just thought about what would I like to hear about from a person reviewing a book I was interested in and if the author stumbled upon it how can I say they did well/not well in writing or marketing/look of book.
Good luck!

Caitlin (bookchats) | 2 comments If you're new to booktube, several booktubers have done "Getting Started" recommendation videos that can be helpful, see if anyone you like and watch has one.

Personally I really like one from Ashley at ClimbtheStacks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRuTO...) and Lainey at GingerReadsLainey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R3ja...). I know there are others I've liked but I'll have to track them down. You could also just search "How to booktube" and see what comes up.

Simlarly, some booktubers have talked through how they review. I really like Ashley's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeW41...) and I really like Mari from MyNameisMarines for her critical eye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDWCi...).

There are a lot of different ways people rate and review books so in general you'll need to find what works for you and making a "How I rate" video can help let your audience know what to expect.

Booktubers whose reviews I frequently like include Trina from Between Chapters, CeCe form ProblemsofaBookNerd, Rebecca from WhyMermaids, Joce from SquibblesReads (she's left booktube but her content is still great), and I know I'm missing someone but I'm blanking.
