In British English, a cookie is what Americans call a cupcake and an American cookie is what the British call a biscuit.
Sorry to be pedantic but many covers have either one or the other. Thanks.

an American cookie - chocolate chip cookie, etc.

Ginger Snapped (Spice Shop Mystery, #5) by Gail Oust

He doesn't know about the challenge, so it was a complete coincidence.
