Stephen (havan) | 15 comments From time to time I have a hankering for "comfort books" they have characters that I like to spend time with, fulfill a sweet fantasy and don't really have a lot of action or conflict. For me, this was one of those.

In large part this was about a man who loved to cook and the cooking and dinner party scenes were well crafted and enjoyable.

I listened to the audio-book version of this and narrator Charlie David, (a bit of a celebrity from his own book Mulligans and the movie made from it), was a great choice and did a credible job of portraying all of the main characters and carrying the main narrative thread. However he could have used a bit more rehearsal or another take on some sections. It was a bit jarring to twice hear him misspeak saying "kitchen" when the word was "chicken" and to hear him pronounce "dash hound."
