To avoid confusion, I will make some changes here. We can use this folder to vote on popular books that you can choose for future group reads. We can read these books between the 15th to the 30th of each month once we're done with our featured author. We can have a separate vote as well depending on the number of books that are chosen.
The books that should be used for this should be popular authors such as James Patterson, Harlan Coben, or Lisa Gardner, just to name a few. If you would like to choose other writers such as John McDonald or Raymond Chandler, then that's okay as well.
The reason for this is because people in the group have said that they would like to have group readings based on books that are in their local library. So, here is your chance to add books to this group.

I would like to add The Sentry by Robert Crais. I really like what books I have read by Crais so far. I finished The First Rule recently and I think this one comes after that one.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Good choice Kathryn. Last book I read by Crais was Hostage which was a great book. I have The Two Minute Rule. Been meaning to read that book also.

I'm going to join Kathryn on the bookshelf and choose The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly
The Scarecrow (Jack McEvoy, #2) by Michael Connelly

I really liked The Two-Minute Rule, along with Demolition Angel and Suspect.

A Clean Kill in Tokyo (John Rain, #1) by Barry Eisler

In an effort to get more people to put popular books on the bookshelf. I am taking recommendations from friends. This is the first in the series by Barry Eisler. One of my favorite books. A Clean Kill In Tokyo. DS Kane recommended it to me.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Ron, can we nominate more than one book for the bookshelf?

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure. Let's go for two each.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay. In that case I would also like to add One Kick by Chelsea Cain. I love the Archie and Gretchen series so much that I'm really anxious to read this new series by Cain.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I have this book. I'd like to read this one as well.

message 11: by Bill (new)

Bill Kupersmith | 114 comments I realy don't know the definition of a "popular book" but as the icpl.org has a copy I nominate Pretty Little Things by Jiliane Hoffman.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good Bill. For the second book, I'll go with One Door Away From Heaven by Dean Koontz. One Door Away from Heaven by Dean Koontz

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Haven't read it yet Gail. Dean Koontz is new to me so I look forward to reading more of his books after the Odd Thomas series. I'm glad you recommend him and I look forward to reading more of his books.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Hope others will join in on the bookshelf. Kind of curious to see who will recommend James Patterson or Harlan Coben or other great writers.

message 15: by Bill (new)

Bill Kupersmith | 114 comments As we're allowed to nominate two, my 2nd is Amanda Kyle Williams's The Stranger You Seek, also in the icpl.org.

The new Alex Cross from Patterson is on my to read list, also. It's hard to come up with just a couple. I'll add it to the second bookshelf if we can get this going.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good to me Kathryn. Maybe someone else will recommend a Patterson book.

message 18: by Michael (new)

Michael (fisher_of_men) How about Elmore Leonard? Two of my favorite books of his are Killshot and Maximum Bob.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good to me. You can choose one Elmore book and choose another author if you want.
If you like Elmore Leonard, then you might want to check out Victor Gischler. One of my favorites who has been compared with Elmore Leonard, especially if you read his book, Suicide Squeeze.
William Lashner's book, The Accounting, is another great example.

Skye | 307 comments Thank you, Ron! Here's another Here She Lies

message 24: by Skye (new)

Skye | 307 comments I should put the pictures of the books, I guess. Here She Lies by Kate Pepper

message 25: by Skye (new)

message 26: by Skye (new)

Skye | 307 comments oops: that should be Faye Kellerman's book The Mercedes Coffin (Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus, #17) by Faye Kellerman

message 27: by Michael (new)

Michael (fisher_of_men) Mike wrote: "How about Elmore Leonard? Two of my favorite books of his are Killshot and Maximum Bob."

I'll go with Killshot.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Just to let you know, I did a count here and 5 people are interested in doing a group read for a popular book. The source would be books from the library. Are there 5 other people interested in joining in this?

message 29: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) What book is it? I am always up for a group read as long as I can get the book.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

You can nominate two books for the book shelf toward a group read Carla. You can pick two popular books and use the library as a source if you want like the others did. Here are the authors chosen so far.

Robert Crais
Elmore Leonard
Michael Connelly
Barry Eisler
Faye Kellerman
Dean Koontz
Chelsea Kane
Jiliane Hoffman
Amanda Kyle Williams

message 31: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) I have already read all Chelsea Kane's books so would not select one of hers. I would love to do one of Faye Kellerman's as I have a lot of hers and have not read any yet. Dean Koontz would be another author, not particular of the title.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry Carla. I meant to say that you could choose two popular books to add to this list and nominate them such as James Patterson and Harlan Coben.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Hit Man (Keller, #1) by Lawrence Block

This book was nominated by Michael towards a popular group read. Hit Man by Lawrence Block

message 34: by Carla (last edited Feb 06, 2015 06:03PM) (new)

Carla (carla1957) I would like to nominate In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1) by Tana French by Tana French.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I may be ready to mention that we can have a group read with a popular book by a very popular bestselling author. Stay tuned. Let me know if you want to participate in this group read with a popular author.

message 36: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) Depends on the book, but I am certainly game.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sure you will be based on this author and the book.

Sounds interesting!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Always love a group read, as long as I have the book.

message 40: by E. (new)

E. | 41 comments What about Cop Town by Karin Slaughter which I have not read, but want to. I'm pretty sure it is not in a series, as most of hers are.
Also, Dean Koontz is a favorite of mine. One Door Away From Heaven is a pretty good one. I'll also throw Intensity into the ring. It's a favorite of mine, would love to re-read it and discuss it. Definitely a thriller.
