they are picky. I applied to be a librarian (specifically so I could edit my OWN lists - I wanted to delete something I had added by mistake to a list I had created) and ... NOPE. Never heard back from them. I mean, I've been a GR member for years, I've got thousands of books on my shelves, hundreds and hundreds of reviews, I'm active in groups ... what more do they want?

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2994 comments Oh, maybe they weren't picky when I applied! I became one to add UK books because I often got copies before anyone else had added them (I think US published books get loaded automatically from data feeds). I wasn't even active in groups at the time, just a frustrated reviewer!

I hadn't really thought of applying -- it's something I just realized existed in the last few months once I started making these listopias haha

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I applied ages ago when I first started using GR (2013?) because a lot of Danish books weren't added (and still aren't). I don't think they were as picky then and not so many people applying probably (also I am a librarian in real life).

Monica (booksarelove) | 13 comments I'm trying to use books that I already own, and I would appreciate it very much if someone could let me know if any of the following pairs would suffice as a pair of binary opposites:

Rise and Shine by Anna Quindlen/Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh

In Our Time by Ernest Hemingway/Days to Come by Lillian Hellman

See Me by Nicholas Sparks/I'll be Seeing You by Mary Higgins Clark

See Me by Nicholas Sparks/Pretend You Don't See Her by Mary Higgins Clark

A Widow for One Year by John Irving/It's Always the Husband by Michele Campbell

Of those INCREDIBLY CLEVER pairings (I'm still looking), I think that Rise and Shine/Decline and Fall and See Me/I'll Be Seeing You are most binary. Am curious to hear what others think, too.
