Avalon | 58 comments Name: Sabella
» Alias(es): Miss Sabella; Ice Princess
» Fable(s): Heart of Ice

Gender: Female
» Sexuality: Heterosexual

Age: 226
» Birthday: January 2

Race: Fable
» Occupation: High School Mathematics Teacher for Mundies
» Residence: Fabletown

description
(view spoiler)
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 109lbs
Hair: white
Skin: pale
Eyes: gray blue
Body type: feminine; slim
Pitch of voice: silvery; cold; soprano

Personality: While initially the other Fables welcomed her to the town, over time they've realized that her sweet exterior speaks very little for her actual personality. From a young age, Sabella has always tended to pursue what she deemed the most logical course of action. Upon realizing that as the only child of her parents she would inherit their vast kingdom, she insisted that in addition to learning music, embroidery and anything else that was deemed "princess-worthy", she also be schooled in whatever areas a prince might, though request was only partially granted. Nonetheless, from then on, she found herself focusing upon learning subjects such as mathematics and sciences, as she felt drawn to their straightforward and analytical nature. However, just as Sabella understands activities that involve reasoning, she has trouble with creativity. Therefore, even with her natural talent for music, anyone whose ever listened to her can't help but feel as though something's missing. Overall though, Sabella cares very little for the thoughts of others, particularly when it comes to their opinions on what is the morally right thing to do, seeing as she lacks the conscience. Her motivation is and has always been to become as educated an individual on all subjects as she can be. Nonetheless, this doesn't mean she utterly avoids conversing with people. Since her heart has been retrieved, she's found something oddly fulfilling in conversation, though, at the same time, she still cannot be bothered with people who are overly emotionally invested in things, as well as those who question her way of life.
» Weakness(es): her heart; animals tend to feel unsettled by her; lack of creativity.
» Strength(s): inability to feel emotions and pain (can also be considered a weakness); intelligence; singing.

History: Sabella's fable seemed as though everything would end happily, up until the end. After retrieving her heart, Mannikin, still unaware of his royal origins, panicked, as he was unable to believe that the King would truly make good on his promise and marry the princess off to a peasant. As a result, when he returned to the palace, he refused to return the heart to it's owner. Instead, he blackmailed the King into allowing sanctioning a marriage between the two of them, claiming that he'd run off with her heart otherwise. Sabella, in turn, had no particular opinion on the matter. Without reclaiming her heart, she had no way to feel anything at all really, and the prince was careful about keeping the gem far from her. Therefore, since Sabella didn't have any particular problems with marrying Mannikin, who had never seemed as dull as her other suitors, they were shortly married. Genesta did dare to tell the bot of his heritage, as well as free the loyal King Bayard from his curse, but she refused to reunite the prince with his parents. For a while after this, everything even seemed fine. However, one day, not too long after the King died of old age and Sabella and Mannikin were crowned as their country's monarchs, he made the mistake of moving her heart into his dresser in their bedroom. For Sabella, it became marked as a rather curious day. In fact, that morning, she shocked everyone, herself included, by stating that she didn't wish to drink her usual tea because she "did not feel like it". That night, the curious "feelings" that pricked her mind drew her to open her husband's dresser, in which she found a rather strange diamond. Just as she dared to pick it up though, Mannikin stormed into the room, demanding that she let go of the gem rather forcefully, as he realized without it, there was no reason she should remain his wife. In turn, Sabella was suddenly plagued with a mixture of emotions, the most prominent being fear, that caused her to grab a nearby dagger and plunge it into her husband heart. The stab of remorse she felt afterwards, though, caused her to drop the diamond, which, strangely enough, cause a crack in it which has slowly spread since then. After the incident, Sabella, well aware that she could no longer be welcome in her kingdom, fled into the night, never to return and unaware of what has occurred there since then. Eventually, she found her way to Fabletown. Upon finding that the people there, while occasionally aware of her fable's existence knew little of what occurred there, Sabella decided that this was the ideal location for her to stay. Since then she's been able to take advantage of her intellect to gain a position as a teacher at the town's high school.

Relations:
» King - Fable; Father; Died of Old Age
» Queen - Fable; Mother; Estranged
» Mannikin - Fable; Husband; Murdered by Sabella
» King Bayard - Fable; Husband's Friend and Ally; Indifferent To

Weapon(s): Her only wepon is the dagger with which she killed her husband (view spoiler).

Fighting Skill(s): She possesses a fair amount of fencing skill.

Special Abilities: Without a heart, Sabella is unable to feel a true range of emotions or pain. Since Mannikin retrieved her heart from Gorgonzola, she has been able to feel them to a lesser extent, but nonetheless, a broken bone still troubles her only as much as a small cut does a normal person. This ability weakens the closer Sabella is to her heart, and even entirely disappears when she is directly touching the gem, but she hasn't removed it from its box since her husband's death.

Other: She has a pet sable named Florette (view spoiler), who was a wedding gift from her husband, along with the renaming of the marten's variety in his wife's honour. Sabella keeps the sable around since she seems to be a relatively intelligent animal and is one of the few ones that can stand being around her.

Awesome! Since her story is less common, be aware that she may be a bit more mortal though. I really love the first picture.

Ah, okay, but does that mean in terms of special abilities or age or...? And yeah, I think either that one or the third would probably be the one I chose in the end.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) I like the first, but I really have no idea who the character is so I have no idea what look you're going for.

Fables gain their immortality from the telling of their stories. She wouldn't age, but she also would heal more like a human than a Fable. Most Fables are immensely hard to to kill. Red Riding Hood's Woodsman has had his skull split open by an axe and ran off a few minutes later. The way this works will be added to the index.

Oh, okay, then I imagine the Piper of Hammelin would probably be fairly invincible-ish, but Cinderella would be pretty much invincible (since he's pretty common, but I don't think I've ever met a person who hasn't heard of Cinderella)?

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Exactly.

I was more or less thinking of having her be an extremely logical person, since possibly my favourite part in the entire tale was how she couldn't understand why everyone thought she needed a heart.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) None of those pictures convey logic, so I guess go with your gut feeling. ^_^

Honestly, I'm still more or less on a picture hunt, but by this point it time it seems like I'm probably going to have to go with that.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Well, the beauty of an unknown fable is that you can pretty much make her look like whatever you want.

message 14: by Avalon (new)

Avalon | 58 comments True enough, plus, I don't recall seeing any sort of description of her appearance other than "the fairest of the fair" and stuff like that.

Avalon | 58 comments Right, so, I think she's basically done, but I'm not sure which of the pictures I have to use...

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) - Birthday: no nd

- Occupation: for mundys or fables?

- Hair and Skin: uncapitalize pale and white

- King Bayard: capitalize To

- Weapons and Fighting Skills: use full sentences

- This ability weakens the closer Sabella is to her heart, and even entirely disappears when she is directly touching the gem, but she hasn't removed it from it's box since her husband's death.
its is not possessive

- History: I believe some of the context for this is lacking in the beginning.
