I need help finding the name of a book with the painting tower of babel by peter the elder as its front cover. The book is about a boy who leaves/is sent from his village/hometown to a huge city. The title of the book is the boy's name, which is something short that I think starts with 's'. At the end of the book, the boy returns home from the city with nutmegs and wisdom. Somewhere along the way he becomes a portrait artist's apprentice and pretends to be a cripple with some beggars. Spoiler: the boy ends up shooting the artist's master who is a trader (that's how the boy got his nutmegs) after the trader locks the boy in a room for some reason. I read this book about a year ago but it was definitely published at least 3 years ago. The author was definitely a male, but i don't remember his name, possibly a peter. Please help!
