You're welcome :) Enjoy!

Graeme Rodaughan Starting this weekend. Rubber hits the road when Trev joins the Custodians for a mission to Specter's rest.

I don't know how Nick Moseley does it, but his settings are extraordinary.

Defunct mental asylums, abandoned graveyards, and now a prison for the worst of the worst of supernatural offenders.

What could possibly go wrong?

Graeme Rodaughan 10% in. A punk vampire, a banshee, a custodian SWAT team and Trev - what could possibly go wrong?

Daniel | 1534 comments The sarcasm has a decidedly supernatural bent to it Graeme. The humor really does make these books. I will say, this series could easily be used as medicine for depression. Cuz nobody can read these books and not laugh!!

I love the punk vampire.

So true!

Graeme Rodaughan There's a nice little section with Trev and Feargal Deacon that explains a few things early in the book.

Graeme Rodaughan Tammie wrote: "I love the punk vampire."

Corbyn. He's an excellent villain.

Graeme Rodaughan Ch 9 done. (view spoiler)

Graeme Rodaughan Ch 14 done.

I love the way that Nick Moseley steadily raises the sense of impending threat. It's seamless and masterful. This is his best writing 'so far,' in this 5 star series.

Daniel | 1534 comments Thru chapter 15. Trev is still the hapless butt of every joke....

Would we be in spoiler territory to say "basically everything"?

Daniel | 1534 comments Well, wtf does Amazon know?? 😂😂

You make a valid point...

Graeme Rodaughan Trev is just having a bad day...

Daniel | 1534 comments Well there are bad days....and then there are BAD days....

Daniel | 1534 comments Trev has his share...lol

Graeme Rodaughan :-).

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm enjoying the re-read, picking up more detail the 2nd time around.

Daniel | 1534 comments It is clever in conception and execution. Well written. Most of all, a seriously funny read...

Graeme Rodaughan 34% in. Loving this book. Trev is a magnet for trouble. Supernatural forces always head toward him before anyone else. Now he's the only one seeing what's really going on and no one else believes him - Cassandra complex much.

Daniel | 1534 comments I am roughly half done. I liked when (view spoiler)

Graeme Rodaughan Geez, Daniel that reminds me of the blueprints for the tower in the original Ghostbusters movie.

Dr. Raymond Stantz : Nobody ever made them like this! The architect was either a certified genius, or an authentic wacko.

Dr. Peter Venkman : Ray, for a moment, pretend that I don't know anything about metallurgy, engineering or physics, and just tell me what the hell is going on.

Dr. Raymond Stantz : You never studied. The whole building is a huge superconductive antenna that was designed and built for the purpose of pulling in and concentrating spiritual turbulence. Your girlfriend lives in the corner penthouse of spook central.

Daniel | 1534 comments Well now that is an excellent connection Graeme!

Back at it tomorrow.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Is anyone still reading here?
Same as on the other thread, I'm getting here after the bar has already been cleaned up?!

I'm reading the short story today and will start with this one tomorrow.

Daniel | 1534 comments Graeme and I are both still reading Miss Laura. We will be almost delirious with joy when you join us....

Graeme Rodaughan Coming towards 1/2 way through. Looking forward to you joining us.

Tammie | 5952 comments I'm still reading, just woefully behind. I guess too many books to read is a good problem to have though.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments yeay! not much to catch up then! :D
Though you guys have been busy chatting here. I'll open all those spoilers when I reach those chapters. For now, I'll be on the short story thread. :)

Daniel | 1534 comments I will wait until ya kinda catch up...other stuff to read anyway...lmao

Anni | 5066 comments I'm glad I'm not the only one being late :D I promised myself to do better, after I was late for the last one to start as well... then a spontanous city trip happened, followed by a cold due to the not so great wether and I'm late again.

Well, three time's the charm I guess. I try to catch up and start on time next month. :)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Same here Ani! I always promise myself nowadays to be on time but I end up being late!!

I was planning to write some more reviews today and update my blog - hence less reading time!

But my laptop got pissed off with me and decided to restart because it encountered a problem. And it doesn't want to start back up anymore!!!
And I have no backup for my blog work! And I'm not even mentioning my review for Hangman's Pond that went down the drain with the computer cause it didn't get saved!!
I'm a bit worried about my blog work now! Hell! I'm chewing my nails for that cause why the heck didn't I back it up!?!
And I can't even touch it to try and reinstall the windows by myself because it's original software and in warranty!!!
It just shucks!!!

well,
On the bright side... more time for reading so I'll start this book tonight.

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Laura, I hope you're able to get your laptop working again soon.

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Anni, I'm still in the 1st half of the book and just reading a little here and there.

Graeme Rodaughan I'm getting a better sense of the setting the 2nd time round with this book.

I really feel like I'm in a semi-abandoned, spooky, old prison.

So funny-at first I thought you were referring to this BR..😂🤣😂.
Yeah the setting is pretty great. Trev is the most hapless hero-anti hero EVER....and yet he is still going strong. Hey do you think the author planned it that way..😉....

Was planning on waiting for others to catch up Graeme.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments you carry on Daniel. I am going slower and don't want to hold you back.

Daniel | 1534 comments Hmmmm we will see. Have a few things cooking now....literally!!

Graeme Rodaughan I'm at 44%, reading maybe 5 to 10% a day.

Graeme Rodaughan 58% in, at the beginning of Chapter 28. Do not read spoiler unless you have also read chapter 28.

If I was in Montano's shoes. (view spoiler) It's what I would do.

Better to explain to 12 than be carried by 6.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Graeme - can you help me out a bit since you already read this book?
Does any character need to sit still for a while in this?
And I am finally starting it this evening.

Graeme's channelling Ellen Ripley here.

"I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Hope you're able to get it fixed Laura.

Not going to lie, that was definitely in the back of my mind while I was writing SR.

Well spotted Graeme!

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Hi Nick! :)

May I ask you the question I asked Graeme.
Is there any character that sits still for a while for some reason in Spectre's Rest? If yes, I'd like to include this in a challenge of mine. :)

message 50: by Laura (new) - added it

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments My laptop is still with the HP people and I'll be getting it back only next week. Still don't know if I can salvage the data from it but fingers crossed!!

In between I hijacked my hubby's laptop and will start writing my reviews on that one tomorrow. Till then however, since today has been a long day with lots of stuff to do...

I've grabbed a box of ice cream, the big one mind!! And am sitting down chilling with a Spectre. Will be back here in a while to let you guys know how we're getting along. :D
