This is for the discussion of The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe (Volume Two).

Diane So far I don't think the Count Morano is a bad man. He's a bit officious but he seems descent.
The castle Udolpho is downright scary and I've got an idea about Signora Laurentini. I'm thinking Jane Eyre thoughts.
This is as much of a page turner as any mystery book written today.

Yes I agree its a page turner :) I think most normal people would lose it if they were in there. I sometime wonder how some characters stay as calm as they do (or seem to easily forget the terror). I think I would be a little like Annette! Montoni is a horrible person and one to fear. There are many secrets in this book! It's fun to try and piece them all together.

Diane Yes. I'm dying to know what was under the black cloth that made her faint. And who locked the door?

Jana Eichhorn I'm midway through volume two now, and the book is finally starting to catch me. I wasn't so sure about it for most of v1, but finally, some action!
