Henry Le Nav | 3 comments I upgraded my iMac OSX (normal Apple upgrade from the App Store) to OSX 10.9.5 on the 19th of September, 2014. Today my Kindle for Mac App would not open. I restarted the computer, still would not open. I found that there was another OSX upgrade at the App Store, I downloaded that, restarted the computer, and Kindle for Mac still would not open.

I checked the Kindle Customer Forum and someone else had the same problem, had downloaded the App from Amazon again with no luck. No solutions were offered other than contacting customer service. By chance I opened the Amazon Announcement of an upgrade to Kindle for IOS. Someone mentioned the problem with OSX and later mentioned that they re-downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, and it worked. I tried it, and it worked for me as well.

The App store presented a display box that I had already downloaded the App. I chose to download it again which required clicking BUY (the App is free). It downloaded normally and then opened fine. It appears to be operating normally now.

Henry Le Nav | 3 comments On the Amazon Kindle Customer Forums a user noted that folks on the Apple boards claimed they had to delete the existing App and empty the trash can before downloading the new app.

I did not have to do that.
