I believe the book is 5-7 years old, the main character is a professional, possibly a lawyer, who gets psychological compulsion to start walking for days on end. His wife is supportive, when the urge comes they prepare him with bandages, sun screen, vaseline etc. and he starts walking. During his walking phase he can't stop. He gets in dangerous situations. After the urge is gone he comes back to his regular life with his wife and kids.
