hmmmmmm I feel like somewhere in the middle. Like a Hayden XD STW but not committed to either side. Cause as a Christian idk if I could bring myself to kill but some of the Agents rules are just too darn unnessecarily complicated.

Okay so Alberon was one of the first characters I ever made on Goodreads, when I was still learning to rp. I think I'd done a few things in some other groups before that, but he was definitely my first AtE character and this was the biggest and most established group I'd ever gotten involved in.
The original idea for what I pictured came from a super minor character on this TV show but he's so minor we don't even know anything about him so mainly it was just from my imagination. He started out in Luke's mansion as a really pragmatic OTW and eventually he was unofficially one of the most highly trusted OTWs by Chase. Then everything went wrong. Ares offered him support if Alberon would want to try and take down Chase to become the leader of the OTWs himself; however, Alberon refused. Miles Runner later told Emma Max--not yet Alberon's girlfriend, though everyone totally was on board, including Kat (which created some awkward situations in which they were forced to awkwardly kiss?) and Chase (who liked to assign them to missions together)--about Ares's offer, though not Alberon's answer. She was convinced he was a traitor, and eventually convinced the rest of the faction too, including Chase. The increasing pressure on Alberon and the growing demands from Chase to "prove his loyalty" eventually cause him to become fed up and leave the faction, reasoning that if it was that easy for them to turn on him it wasn't worth the effort it would take to regain his former trust.
Meanwhile, Chase began to act with more and more insanity, and Alberon began to seriously consider bringing him down...

((to be continued... Plus: Alberon's secret back story that only I know all of!!!))

Okay, so Alberon's back story. Mods know most of this, but this is the first time I THINK it's been put out here?

So Lucas grew up in a pretty messed up family. His dad was really, really abusive. His mom never fought back, and eventually he came to see her as weak for that and even blame her for what ended up happening.

He had a little sister, too. Lia. She had lots of health issues. He tried to protect her from their father as much as he could.

When he was thirteen, it got bad enough that he tried--not for the first time really, but the first time he meant it, and actually came close--to run away. He stole the car, which was his big mistake. Not only did he totally wreck it, but it meant his dad actually cared a lot more about tracking him down. Even when the police found him bleeding in the ditch, he fought, and they had to bring him back to the house in handcuffs.

His dad made him pay for that.

By the end of the night, he looked worse than the car. For the next several months, he was locked in his room. He wasn't allowed to see Lia, he was barely fed. He had to make his own brace for his broken leg. No chance to run away again anytime soon.

A month later, his mom came in, shaking. She didnt have food. Instead, she had news: Lia was dying.

He pushed past her despite her protests into his sister's room. Unfortunately, it was only a minute before his father came home. He was furious to see Lucas out, and ended up knocking him unconscious with a chair. When Lucas woke up, Lia was dead. It wasn't clear if it would have happened from the illness anyway, or the crossfire between Luke and his dad was what had done it.

Lucas was devastated by his sister's death. It was at that point, I think, that the raw emotions of hatred and anger and bitterness turned into something cold and calculating. Something hardened, something froze at that point. Where his dad was sudden hot flashes, Luke was simmering to a deadly boil.

As soon as his leg was healed enough, he left. He didn't make the mistake of taking the car this time. He stuck to the back streets, laying low. His dad still looked for him, for some reason, but Lucas was smarter now. He knew how to play this game.

He got involved in a gang. He knew for now at least, as a fourteen-year-old, he would need a network to survive. That was how it worked out here. The rest of the boys were seventeen, eighteen years old. He had to fight one of them to "prove his worth," and got beaten to a pulp. But the leader, Rafe, took a liking to the kid for some reason. He learned a lot there, about how to get what you want. That, maybe, was where the slow stone hardened more, crystallizing into a brain that finally had a goal.

One year later, he returned and killed his father and his mother.

It was around this time that he met Monica. She never quite got him to let down the walls. But he came close. Eventually, she would teach him to never let anyone get close again.

When he found out what her parents did to her, that slow simmer boiled over. He never told her it was him, but she knew. He had to leave town. On his own again. That was the way it would always be, it turned out. Even when he was in the gang, he was never quite the same. He was the little kid with the too-old eyes.

Three weeks ago, Caitlyn asked about Apollo Bane.

I honestly have no memory of how/why I ended up making him. Maybe Ember remembers? But I think I created him to be a contrast to Ares. Ares is a bold, strong leader who everyone knows, and who back then at least had a tendency to be a little impulsive. Apollo is the opposite. He rarely speaks, and never shows his hand. It's impossible to tell what he's thinking. Sometimes he even defers people from questioning by subtly using his power. He never acts impulsively (other than that one time Kitty was in his house and stole his stuff, he got a little mad but even then he just wanted it back and to keep it private). He's a very private person and doesn't get close to people very easily. He's also very cautious, in his words and his actions. He stays neutral on everything and never gives away his thoughts.

I picture Apollo and Ares as kids and i picture them getting into fights a lot. Apollo's a pretty small guy and Ares is a literal beast when he fights, so I picture him getting beat up a lot. Not seriously, like kids do, but you know. Ares was pretty competitive and in most cases was better than Apollo at almost everything. And where some kids would experience and try to make up for it by just trying to be like their opponent but better, Apollo took a different route. Where Ares is a doer, Apollo is a thinker. Where Ares was all about strength, Apollo developed his wits. He still got beat up a lot, but once his power developed--especially when it FIRST developed--he was able to sometimes get the upper hand.

When their parents split, and Apollo moved to Spain, he got bullied some in school. But instead of retaliating on the spot, and showing his dominance, like Ares would, he let it simmer. Eventually, something would happen, that looked like chance. No one would ever be able to trace it back to him, but people knew. They learned. And so they left him alone. He was almost a superstition, one they may have laughed at, but never to his face.

All except, as was recently revealed, one.

They were assigned to be partners for a project, and for some reason, she treated him different than anyone else had ever treated him in his life. It was like he was really being seen, for the first time. And he was really uncomfortable with it, at first. He liked the dark. But gently, she coaxed him out of the dark.

She got him to do stuff way out of his comfort zone. He even started to meet other people, her friends. They were kinda wary at first, but they got there. And, log story short, he fell in love. Desperately, rapturously, head-over-heels in love.

They were both devastated when he moved back to the states, but they wrote letters back and forth. He still has hers. He was saving up to go back when he turned 18.

One month before the end, the worst happened. She was in a terrible accident and sent to the states for medical care. She experienced serious brain trauma and became a completely different person. It broke Apollo's heart.

He visited the hospital almost daily, even if they wouldn't actually let him in. In fact, often they had to kick him out. He probably would have slept there if he could. She barely even recognized him, at first. He told her stories of when they met, of the things they'd done together, reminding her. Sometimes she got mad and screamed at him. Those days were the worst.

No, they weren't the worst. There was one worst day. The worst day was the end, when the hospital burned down. There wasn't even a body left.

Apollo withdrew completely into himself. He wandered for a while, not caring if he lived or died. Eventually, he ended up, ironically, right back where he started. He caught wind of Ares in the area. Apparently he'd made quite a name for himself. He had nothing better to do, so he moved into the abandoned townhouse he would eventually share with Kitty Spikes.

He discovered a bitter amusement in unnerving people. It was easy, between his power and his uncanny powers of observation. He enjoyed observing the different power dynamics in this town. He began to develop at least some semblance of a life; though something in him would never forget, he tried. He was especially amused by how strongly Kitty reacted to his presence. He began to almost develop a tolerance for her, until she snuck into his house and went through his letters, his photos. He was furious, then. It was over. When she asked for his help, he turned her down. And when she tried to ask about who the mysterious girl was, he shut her out. He shut everyone out, for a while.

And now Ares is back, and he told him Rosa is alive. She survived.

Apollo had never told his brother about her. There were a lot of things he never told him. They'd been close as little kids, but only ever continued to grow apart as they got older, becoming almost rivals. When their parents split, all contact was broken off. The new dynamic is a strange, uncertain one, and the direction it will go is unclear. Also unclear is how Apollo will respond to Rosa being alive again--or how she will respond to him? How was the end affected her? Only time will tell.

One quick side note: I found this in his character profile, which may also give some insight into his and Ares's relationship.

Ares always had the advantage, being bigger and stronger plus the advantage of his power, so Apollo learned fast and he learned well.
Note: the one thing he does have going for him is that Ares is particularly susceptible to his power, meaning when Apollo chooses to use it, he can basically control him. Ares knows this and HATES it, and it has always been a bone of contention between them.

Ah, Nadia Rain. I was hoping someone would ask about her so I could explain the origin story for the concept of her.

So I was thinking about Alberon's power, of being able to distinguish truth from lies, and I was thinking, what about when someone speaks in the future tense in front of him? "I will...," and so on?

I determined that making them forced to keep those promises was OP for him, since it would have affected things before and it felt like a a cheat side effect to his power. I've decided that he can read intentions, weakly, but nothing prohibits someone from changing their mind. He doesn't rely on it.

But I couldn't get the idea out of my mind for someone who forced others to keep their promises, whether they want to or not. Whether HE/SHE wanted them to or not. I could imagine a LOT of uses for such a character in this town.

Thus, Nadia was born. I had basically one female character at the time, so I made her female. She can be brutally honest at times, and seems to put herself all out there. She tries to seem invincible, and successfully keeps up that facade most of the time, but she actually feels things really deeply.

I don't remember a ton about her back story--I think what happened before the End is mostly undeveloped, she is a character that actually gets a normal past--other than that her two siblings are adopted. It was always an interesting dynamic cause she's African American and they're white, so people always assumed she was the adopted one, which she found amusing.

In a previous town, she had to deal with being JJ's pawn, and again when he came here. That was the worst thing she's ever experienced--a total lack of control, being used without regard, the perpetrator of these terrible, terrible things, a tool in the hands of someone she hated.

At the same time, she was dealing with the feeling of loss and eventually anger at being totally ditched by the one person who actually took time to get to know her for once. He got past her walls, made her laugh, made her curious and excited. And then, he didn't even say anything, leaving it to her to work out that he was gone.

She got closer to Tyler, even helping him write the Newsletter once. She began to have hopes there, but he never once gave her anything to go off of, regardless of her dropping hints. This is why she was slightly irritated by how he responded when Alex came back.

Alex came back. She was really, really mad at him. She didn't trust him. Still doesn't trust that he won't leave. Except now he's made a promise, which she's not sure how to feel about. It's nice and horrible at the same time. She doesn't like having someone she cares about indebted to her. Not like that.

Aside from her trauma and boy drama, there's her siblings. Dylan was always the peacekeeper between her and Damien. They couldn't stand each other. He used to use her almost like JJ, if not for as evil a purpose. He used to try and trick their friends into making dumb promises, and Nadia would get him back by tricking him. They both learned the loopholes well. Even after the end they kept their distance, getting into fights and stuff. They only really began to tolerate each other after JJ. Turns out they do care after all. A lot, though they would never admit it.

Rena was also a scenario of, oh crap I have one other female character XD She's really headstrong and stubborn and has a quick temper, but cares a lot about her family. She feels partially responsible for how they're falling apart but is also kinda angry at her older siblings for not being there. So I'll do these easy ones first real quick, then I'll do Riley, Nathan, and Heleman. Maybe if I feel like it I'll expand on Rena then too. Maybe.

Antony: He's your standard evil OTW sadist. I think I originally created him to be like Alberon used to be as far as a major influence in the OTWs which I guess he kind of is but I don't really have a great personal connection with his character. I have a bit of a hard time rping him except hes basically a snake. He feels a bit like an archetype to me which is kind of boring so I have a hard time rping him.

Isaac: Isaac is the opposite of Antony in that he is a unique character with lots of personal quirks and habits that make him easy to rp cause its easy to predict how he'll react. That also makes him somewhat boring sometimes though because when in doubt, cry or get out the sanitizer. But he's super lovable and adorable.
When I made him, that was what I was going for: having someone with a unique quirky personality so that I'm not in an Antony situation. So I gave him a stutter and made him a germophobe, and let it evolve from there. It's been interesting to see how someone like that does after the end of the world.
He doesn't talk much because he's really self-conscious about his stutter. He got made fun of for it in school a lot. He was always the shy, nerdy awkward kid with a lot of problems going for him. He is afraid of almost everything and is really naive. He likes his hand sanitizer because it's a way for him to have control. When he gets freaked out he tends to just withdraw into himself and gets really psyched out. He relies a lot on his siblings to keep him safe, especially Jonathan, his stability. He doesn't really like other people, they freak him out too much. Edvin is nice to him though. He became an agent because the structure is good for him.
