That's true. It was also good that there were bad Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. Zacharais Smith for one, was from Hufflepuff. Marietta was from Ravenclaw. I'm not sure who else.

message 52: by Allie (new)

Allie Lockhart or Umbridge they were so annoying

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
I know they were annoying, but they had large parts, so Chamber of Secrets and Order of the Phoenix wouldn't be the same without them.

message 54: by Meghan (new)

Meghan | 686 comments I wonder which houses they came from? Does anyone know?

message 55: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments I definitely think Umbridge was in Slytherin. I think Lockhart was maybe in Hufflepuff.

message 56: by Leah (new)

Leah | 12 comments I don't think Lockhart was from Hufflepuff, he's too selfish and dishonest. But then again i can't think of where else he could have been from.

Anyway, if i could delete a character i think it would have to be--don't yell at me--Wormtail. I know he was essential to the plot but i just think it was so awful how he betrayed all his friends like he did, and i still don't fully understand why.

message 57: by Gunjari (last edited Jan 26, 2009 01:16PM) (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments yes. mclaggen was not very courageous if you know what i mean, and romilda vane was just kind of disgusting.
i know that we can't really 'delete' people because the horrible characters make the story its amazing self as well. it just goes to show what a great writer jo is, that she can make her villians so real that we hate them, even if they don't exist!

message 58: by jeeves... (new)

jeeves... | 100 comments rita skeeter.

course, instead of just deleting bad characters, we could be deleting the best ones too, to save them from their horrible fates... (sirius D: )

message 59: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments I agree monolith, I cried when Sirius died.

message 60: by jeeves... (new)

jeeves... | 100 comments ahrgh, so depressing, he was the bestest... closely followed by snape :p *sighz*

jeeves... | 100 comments yeah, that would be so nice of you...

message 65: by Aneri (new)

Aneri | 186 comments I think I would delete Professor Grubbly-Plank. I hate how everyone including a little bit of Hermione liked her. Hagrid is way better than her.

message 66: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments But then who would be there when Hagrid isn't?

message 67: by Aneri (new)

Aneri | 186 comments ermm...some other really mean substitute that EVERYONE hates

message 68: by Gunjari (last edited Jan 28, 2009 04:57PM) (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments umbridge?

omg that would be hilarious!!! "now here class, is a flobberworm. careful, they can be vicious when provok- ahhhh!"

message 69: by Aneri (new)

Aneri | 186 comments hehe lol

message 70: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments *endless laughter*

message 71: by Aneri (new)

Aneri | 186 comments Its just annoying that no matter which character you want to delete, they serve such an important part in the plot that the book would be terrible without them!

message 72: by Tanya (new)

Tanya (talesoftobv) | 3 comments Ronald Weasley, because he's a whiny turd who deserves to be eradicated.

message 73: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
What!? Sorry, but I totally don't agree with that! There's no story without Ron.

message 74: by Aneri (new)

Aneri | 186 comments Ron is soooo funny!

message 75: by Emma (last edited Jan 29, 2009 06:24PM) (new)

Emma | 34 comments There would be absolutely no point in the books without Ron. *pout*

message 76: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments ron is clueless... but that's what makes him so lovable... :) don't you agree?

message 77: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments YES!!!!!Ron plays a huge part!!!

message 78: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth YES he does, and yes, his cluelessness makes him just adorable. I mean, even if I didn't like ron (don't be mistaken - I love him!) I wouldn't want to delete him - he's part of the trio, and therefore essential. Without Ron, we wouldn't meet any of weasleys or go the burrow and that would make the order so weird and harry would never have a mother figure (mrs. weasley) or a bunch of "brothers" and he would never meet ginny and he would only have hermione as a friend, and personally, I don't think he'd be too happy about that. And ron, he wouldn't meet hermione cause I don't think they'd ever have gotten together if it wasn't for harry and ... the list goes on and on.

message 79: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
I know! I love Ron.

message 80: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth I wouldn't delete anything. It was just perfect. I would, however, like some certain things cleared up, like particulars about quirrell's body sharing, ginny's possession, the diary horcrux, and horcruxes in general. But of course I wouldn't take any of that stuff away!

message 81: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments yes the whole quirrel thing was confusing. was he a horcrux? cuz it seemed like it but he wasn't...

message 82: by Melyssa (new)

Melyssa | 48 comments I don't believe Quirrel was a Horcrux. Wasn't LV just using him to try and survive...and get into Hogwarts for the stone?

I don't know if I'd delete any of the characters. That's a tough one. Hmm.....OH! Cho. I really really dislike Cho.....and Fleur. They both got on my nerves.

message 83: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth I don't like either of them either, but I think cho was important cause harry had to have at least one thing he failed at, right?? and fleur is fun to make fun to make fun of.

message 84: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments yeah. plus, in the end fleur turned out to be not as dumb-blond as we thought...

message 85: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments no offense to any blondes out there!

message 86: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth good point. She DID love bill, you could tell.

message 87: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (last edited Feb 04, 2009 02:54PM) (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
Yeah, I like how at the end of the sixth book she really shows she cares for Bill. I actually kind of like her. I don't like Cho at all, but I guess her little romance with Harry is important in a way. I really hate Marietta and she's Cho's friend, so that's the main reason for my dislike.

message 88: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Yeah, Cho gets on my nerves. I don't get what Harry sees in her. I much prefer his choice of Ginny, she at least isn't a wimp.

message 89: by Sofia (new)

Sofia (sofiakennedy) I don't really like Cho either. She's just... I dunno. Not really a like-able person. How Harry noticed her over Ginny... Anyway, she's probably not my least favorite person that I'd want out of the book. It's hard to pick who I'd want to be kicked out because they all play some sort of role, but since I have to choose, I'd pick Rita Skeeter (did I spell that right?).

message 90: by Paige (new)

Paige | 203 comments i didnt like a lot of the characters, but i dont think i would be able to take out a character...

message 91: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments i know. we can't really delete any characters from the story, since they all seem to play a critical role, but i would delete marietta as well if i could. i honestly don't see what harry saw in cho, either...

Ethan The Talkative One :D (ethanthetalkative) | 101 comments I'd delete Aunt Marge and Wormtail He go on my nerves in the movies but not in the books

message 93: by Keegan (new)

Keegan (kwjazzman) | 70 comments I would delete Cho because the story wouldn't change that much if she wasn't in it

message 94: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
Well, she was Harry's first love interest. I think that was necessary in his growing up.

message 95: by Lilly (new)

Lilly | 16 comments Cho is rather unlikable, but unfortunately necessary. I would delete Marietta. She totally deserved what she got. And McLaggen (however that's actually spelled), and Zacharias Smith. They didn't serve much of a purpose and they're arrogant jerks. I think Scorpius should be deleted out of mercy (poor kid, with a name like that...)

Emma the Shadowhunter (emmalisastincelli) | 52 comments Tess wrote: "HAHA. Voldemort."

There is no point without Voldemort.

Emma the Shadowhunter (emmalisastincelli) | 52 comments Gunjari wrote: "i'd love to delete lockhart, but also i don't want to. i think that deleting any character would ruin the whole story... althuogh i fi could get my hands on bellatrix! (even if she's already dead)"

I agree. If you delete anyone, it would mess up the story. Even the smallest characters.

message 98: by Keegan (last edited Apr 20, 2009 11:30AM) (new)

Keegan (kwjazzman) | 70 comments Well if they just had harry like ginny in the first place there would be no need for cho

message 99: by Pandy, "It unscrews the other way." (new)

Pandy | 1575 comments Mod
But Harry needed to mature and Ginny needed to learn to be herself more. They couldn't have started out together.

message 100: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (ioanasaunt) | 63 comments I want to delete Cho Chang, she kissed Harry.
