SOLVED. A wife is murdered and husband fakes his own death to find the killer [s]

A wife is murdered in her home. She is a successful businesswoman. Her husband is badly injured and hospitalized. With his doctor's help (maybe his brother?), he fakes his own death so he can track down the killer. The only other thing I recall is that he had a collection of valuable guitars that he sold to finance his quest. I did not get further than that, but would like to finish the book. Thanks for your help.
