Jim | 33 comments I read the sample for The Curse of Jacob Tracy last night. Looks like it'll be a good read.

I'm currently reading Wake of Vultures and really loving it.

Quentin Wallace (quentinwallace) | 231 comments I just finished Dust Devils and was pretty impressed. Good old fashioned vampire weird western, definitely worth checking out.

Was wondering what you thought of that one. Was on my list already.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 345 comments I actually just recently interviewed Jonathan Janz as part of my Horror Interviews series. The same to which you were a part of Quentin.

Quentin Wallace (quentinwallace) | 231 comments I saw it on your list Ashe, I tried to recommend it. I think you'll like it.

Yeah Janz seems like a nice guy Justin, and his stuff is pretty good too.

audrey (oddmonster) | 108 comments I started reading The Ghost of Jacob Tracy but didn't manage to finish it. Always looking for more good steampunk Westerns. Ashe, what did you ultimately think of Wake of Vultures?

Wake of Vultures was SO GOOD. I'm looking forward to finally grabbing the sequel, Conspiracy of Ravens. I think the third book will come out next year some time.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 345 comments Just picked up all 4 of the Weird West Tales by Mike Resnick. I'll be starting on the first book, The Buntline Special soon. I've been wanting to read these ever since I heard about them. Got all 4 for $23 on Amazon during Cyber Monday.

Tim Houston | 1 comments I stumbled on the "Stones of Power" trilogy (Wolf in Shadow, The Last Guardian, Bloodstone) by David Gemmell. After I finished the first read I turned right around and started them again. Epic and intimate, hyperreal and surreal. From Atlantis to Arizona, Old Testament theology to post-apocolyptic dystopia, it's a winner!

Paul Summerhayes | 4 comments To feed my need for weird westerns I'm currently reading graphic novels. I started by reading Billy the Kid's Old Timey Oddities Omnibus (awesome) and now I'm currently reading through The 6th Gun series ( The Sixth Gun, Vol. 1: Cold Dead Fingers ). I'm on book 2 at present.

These are the first comics I have read in twenty+ years and I'm loving them. I just have to find more!

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 345 comments Hmm interesting. The covers look great I hope the stories are just as great?

I liked the Billy the Kid comic more than The 6th Gun because it was fast paced. The 6th Gun is more of a epic weird western (it's still good).

Sixth Gun is phenomenal. I still need to finish the last two volumes.

I bought all 6 volumes at once and now I'm on book 3. :)

Do you know of any other weird western graphic novels?

East of West stars the Four Horsemen in a Sci-Fi West.
Pretty Deadly vol 1 stars Death's daughter.
High Moon is rad and stars a werewolf.
Some of the Jonah Hex story arcs are weird west. Honestly, I would recommend the Grey/Palmiotto series anyways. It was fantastic.
I have no idea if the Wynonna Earp comic series the show is based on is any good but it's there.
If you can find a copy of The Wicked West, it was a fun read but I think you'd have to pirate it at this point.

There's some more out there but those are the ones I know of and/or have read.

audrey (oddmonster) | 108 comments Guns of Shadow Valley looks interesting. I think I'm going to give that a try.

I really liked Daisy Kutter: The Last Train (Old West steampunk) and North 40 (modern day Lovecraft Western) but hoo boy is the latter gory. I'm a little more on the fence about Copperhead, Vol. 1: A New Sheriff in Town (space Western) but can't really put my finger on why. Anyone else read it?

message 70: by Paul (new)

Paul Summerhayes | 4 comments Thanks, there are some good suggestions here. I have added some to my 'To Read' list.

message 71: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 9 comments @Audrey, I read the first issue of Copperhead but didn't go back to it yet....wasn't all that compelled to continue. Might give the trade paperback a try if I can find a copy at the library. Not familiar with Daisy Kutter or North 40. Thanks, will check them out.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 345 comments Skin Medicine was nuts. Loved it and it made me rethink my own western horror lol.
