Why not both?
Why not both?

Well, yeah she is the replacement, but it's nice that Chaol and her actually had history with one another, so it doesn't exactly feel that she's just there as a replacement. If Nesryn was just brought into the story out of nowhere with no relations to the characters other than being a rebel, then I would not like her character at
all. I actually like them together more than Chaol and Celaena.
Lol. That shirt sounds awesome XD

Agree, by the way, it ends with that irrational belief that Chaol is pure loyal and almost celibate. Perhaps he was not so show off like Dorian about the girls he beds but that doesn´t mean that he never had fun with a few ones. And... as long as he doesn´t hurt anyone, this isn´t bad. Remeber a white gentleman has still a male inside.

Ooh, burn. I honestly feel like Chaol was the wilder of those two, so I'm surprised that so many people think he was celibate and/or loyal to one person. WTF?

I didn't think he was celibate or anything, just loyal...I honestly believe Dorian was the wilder one XD
Unpopular opinion: I honestly don't mind if Rowaelin doesn't get together in the end.
I don't mind if they end up as a couple, but neither do I mind if their ship sinks..

Oh really, I didn't really see. Most of what I've seen are from other people who ships Aelin with another character..
I really liked the idea of Rowaelin being close friends, that I sometimes find reading about them being a couple awkward.
I think it's also the fact that Rowan is like three to four centuries old, and idk the huge age gap bothers me sometimes...It's certainly not the first time that I've read about an Immortal being falling in love with a mortal or someone waaaay younger than them, but the fact that Rowan's almost past four centuries (did I get that right?) makes me kinda on-the-fence regarding their ship.
(Same thing can be said about the supposed Manorian ship, tho Manon is only past one century old so it's, somehow, easier to accept~)
I don't mean to offend any Rowaelin shippers tho, they would make a good couple (I guess...)... I'm just indifferent about it.

PS: This is probably stupid, but @Grace Meredith, how do you put pictures/ gifs into posts. If anyone else could help, then please do.

Yeah, I always thought the same about Chaol. (My mother used to say "Be carefull with the quiet ones... when it´s about girls, they always can surprise you" when she talked about guys and their relationships. ) But believe me, when Queen of Shadows was publicated officially, there were a thousand girls complaining about how Chaol character was ruined, and how Nesryn was a replacement and that Chaol would´ve never replace Aelin and things like that... I was like... "No, baby, no, Chaol still rocks, is just that he´s a handsome, young male and he´s going through things he had never ever faced before" I never understand what was the fuss about Chaol´s previous sexual relationships.
And about the age thing... I feel like this is ambiguous. I´m not saying if it´s correct or not but what I´m sure of is that it´s not the same to love an elder man/woman that does represent and looks like the age they are, than falling in love with someone that it´s hella older than you but looks just like you or a few years older. By the way, everything in this sort of relationships involves matureness. Sounds weird if you love to act and live your life like a teeneger and you want to be with a guy that doesn´t have the time for that things because it´s a long time since they were that age. Aelin may be young, but even if she loves chocolates, parties and shopping, she has gone through too much... she is more mature than many woman in their fourties. The same goes for men. I know all of you have met "adult" males that actually acts worse than a teeneger....

I'm new to the group but am in love with the series. Its the best thing ive read in a long time and so captivating.
At first I loved Choal but then he was being selfish. I couldnt stand the way he hated her when he found out who she was or what she was. She is fae and that shouldnt have changed his "love" for her. Guess it wasnt love for him but she put her heart and soul out to him.
This is why i love Rowan he is... perfect. An ass, but brilliant. He gives her the right amount of everything and accepted her where as Choal didnt. Which is sad. They could have been really good together but he ruined it.
I dont think the age gap is much to worry about as its just like any other normal relationship. If you get along and work together then whats wrong with the acceptance.
@Rose I know exactly what you mean. He needed to be broken in a bit but shes good for him and he is soo good for her ;D

I want one too!! XD
And then on the back of the shirt I want it to say:
R- robust
O- orgasmic
W- woof-worthy male where there is
A- absolutely
N- no one else!
(I brought this up on another thread, but hopefully it's relevant and funny here)

only read this if you have finished empire of storms but
hahah i guess it didnt work then

I never understood how Rowan can be Aelin's consort even if they got married at the end of eos, as Terrasan doesn't even acknkowledge her as queen. Also, i feel like the Terrasen people would take offence, for their "king's" history with Meave and the cadre, like Darrow took offense.
Sorry, but her not actually (officially) being Queen of Terrasen always made me wonder about the validity of their marriage.
Ps. I'm not trying to deminish their relationship, i like them together, i was just wondering about the rules surrounding them.

But now I'm like
How could I have been so stupid jeezzzzz
🤔🤔🤔

Celaena and Rowan are both powerful beings that are just perfect for each other.
I was Team Chaol while reading the first two installments of the series, and was disappointed when Rowan was suddenly introduced in the third book. However, I changed my mind very soon after reading more about Rowan.
Rowan has a noble heart and accepts Celaena for who she is. They look at each other and don't see the monster some people consider them as. And I do think that is exactly what both of them needs.

We'd need to know Rowan's family tree a bit more for an actual answer and not just guess work, but..
So we know the closest relationship Rowan can have to Mora is her being his grandmother. And Aelin's great-grandmother was Mab. because Evalin and Rowan would be second-cousins, so Rowan and Aelin would be second-cousins once-removed. so...
Statistically, about 1.5% of their DNA is inherited from a common ancestor. If Rowan is further removed from Mora than assumed, they are even less related.
This is what I did for a genetics project, because that is how obsessed I am.

Lmaoo. When Rowan first appeared, i was like who is this? Why is he here? No! You belong with Chaol. But no i would slap my self for being so stupid. LOL

Like is that even a question.
Okay so maybe to some people it's still a debate.
But.
But.
But.
Why.

Luckily, Rowan was a blessing from god (AKA Sarah J Maas). In HoF my shipping quickly took a turn to the right (cus Rowan is all kinds of right). Rowan is badass, Aelin is badass. They both strengthen, compliment and complete each other. They are two forces of nature, and are the only ones who can handle one another. I really believe they give each other exactly what they need (that’s probs Maas’ plan too).
I always have a horrible feeling that when mates or just a perfect couple find each other, one of them will die and leave the other broken and alone in the world (idk just a fear of mine). And I can only imagine how ruined either one of them would be. Like, Aelin, I can’t really understand how she could lose yet another loved one without shattering, how much must a poor soul go through, right?? Same with Rowan, so i just really need a happy ending for the two of them. I need it.

Though, the ending of ACOWAR was fairly happy and resolved, so... I'm not as scared as I would have been, because now we have a taste of how Sarah J. Maas prefers to end her series, but still, it's all up to her.
Just saying, I read the excerpt of Kingdom of Ash and started sobbing, so if Rowaelin doesn't work out or one of my ToG children dies, I will curl up into a ball and no amount of chocolate cake can coax me out of it.
