message 1351: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I don't mind if Dorian or Rowan are endgame. I'm fine with either, they could both probably work I reckon. I just DO NIT WANT Dorian and Manon. NO WAY!

message 1352: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) I loved them all! Dorian was my fave and then Celeana pushed him away for Choal and I liked him too but he was so hard to win over sort of because she is all the things he fears and doesn't really like.
When Rowan first showed up I didn't like him much. I missed Chaol.
But then like Celeana over time I fell in love and I like them together :)
And I want everyone to be happy l. Can't they all just be happy

Caroline ☯ (caro_reads) | 7 comments Honestly, I've always been okay with whatever pairings Sarah has decided to create within this series. The fact that Celeana has had so many love interests makes it more realistic for me. In real life it's extremely rare that a person will find their soulmate within the first person they meet which happens far too often in YA novels nowadays. I guess that's part of the reason why I'm such a big supporter of Rowan and Celeana because their relationship is undoubtably the most developed througout this entire series. I mean, two entire massive books are dedicated to the development of their relationship and it's rare that characters get that much attention. So I guess it's more of an accepting the new and realizing that change is a part of real life more than getting stuck on what couple is "end game" or what couple you liked the best. I view it as it isn't my story, it's Celeana's and if the story is still making me go out and buy the books why would I corrupt that by being fixated on one aspect of the book that I was shocked by? Okay rant over lol

message 1354: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Molyneux (lauren_stephh) Caroline, I completely 100% agree with everything you said. It's all realistic... Changing your mind about the reasons you should be with someone or making a completely 180 on how you feel about someone is completely normal so it's great to see it come through in ya lit

message 1355: by Noris (new)

Noris | 574 comments Caroline! Omg! Such a mature comment! I've always thought the same. Come on, it's not imposible but we're not going to find our soulmate in the first guy that we meet. That's what I love from Sarah, she writes realistic things!

message 1356: by Caroline ☯ (new)

Caroline ☯ (caro_reads) | 7 comments Cool cool, it's nice to know others feel the same! :)

message 1357: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I agree wholeheartedly with your comment Caroline. I'm real neutral about who Celaena ends up with I don't mind. As long as the books are epic, (and have plenty of Dorian) I'm happy! :)

I kind of feel exactly like you, that she had to "kill" Chaol so we wouldn't like him as much as we did and easier accept Rowan. I never stopped liking him though, I refused haha since it felt like the author wanted me to.
I also like the fact that Celeana didn't meet Mr. perfect directly as it is in most books, because as you all said that isn't real life. And I don't really mind who she ends up with, as long as that person is good for her and makes her happy. But I do hope it is not Dorian, because I like their friendship a lot :)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments I'll go down with this ship!!!

message 1360: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I will forever remember Chaolaena because I shipped it for almost three entire books. He helped her out of a hard time in her life, she lost her virginity to him, they had a wonderfully snarky relationship, and everything was cupcakes and rainbows for a short time. I love how Aelin always seems to fall in love with her trainers. First Chaol, and now Rowan... I wonder what would happen if she got a personal gym trainer. Probably making out in the closet. Hehehe.

However, I ship her with Rowan now because I think he can truly help her more. He has magic, so he understands how to use it. He is a Fae, so he can also help her to develop that side of herself and figure it out. He knows about Terrasen, so he can also help her become Queen. Also, he's really hot. But so was Chaol, and so are ALL of the characters in this series, so that's not a very defining aspect. He knows how it can feel to be in that dark place she gets more than Chaol or Dorian, because he has led a more unsheltered life as the slave of Maeve.

Wow, that was kind of a rant. But a happy one. :)

message 1361: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I think Dorian kind of knows what it's like to be in a dark place though, with all he's been through now. But yeah I agree, Rowan seems to understand her the best. I'm real neutral about it I really don't mind. I'm not that fazed by Rowan, I don't see him as that, hot, as other people are saying, but he's definitely a very good character.

message 1362: by Ruby (new)

Ruby | 26 comments *this whole block of text is spoilers, avoid if you haven't read the entire series*

Aelin and Rowan are my current OTP; because in the past, I shipped Chaol and Celaena, but, then Chaol let Nehemia die, and I was like...I...the ship has sunk...and then in QOS there were tons of hints that Chaol is going to end up with Nesryn, by the way, I love Nesryn (she's like another Celaena. She's like Celaena's twin, she's pretty bad-ass but instead of being sassy she's more like Celaena's opposite, calm, collected, and silent. Also, I don't think that she's going to end up with Dorian because there were tons of hints that he's going to end up with Manon. As a result, I either want Aelin and Rowan to end up together or Aelin just ending up as a bad-ass, single-pringle, fire breathing b*tch queen who is a great ruler.

message 1363: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) @Ruby I think the same!
Love Rowan and Celeana!!
Loved Chaol but don't think that he and Celeana have any sort of romantic future any more. I would be happy if they were just nice to eachother.

RIGHT?! Thank you ahaha, during QOS when Chaol talked to Aelin, he talked as if everything was her fault and I cringed at that and that didn't ruin my ship, but it discouraged Chaolaena for me and I turned to Rowaelin because Rowan looks at Aelin as if she means the world to him, which she probably does.

message 1365: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) Yes.
I did too. Whenever he spoke and blamed her I am just thinking YOU ASS. What about what she has been through?? You sent her away. She had to fight to survive, not to mention her heart was broken because of your actions and she had to pull herself together. I was so mad at him, so very mad, And then yes she wasnt exactly nice back with the whole I will kill Dorian thing. But she was angry, angry and hurt, and she spicy so she wasnt going to play nice when he wasnt.

Rowan is a god. I didnt like him at first, but then she made that wall of fire and he fought to get to her, to stand by her, to help her. Whenever she was hurt he took care of her. And in the last book when they finally opened up to their feelings towards each other I was soooo happy.

YESSSSS, YOU ARE SPEAKING MY THOUGHTS RIGHT KNOW. ahahaha. When Chaol was saying stuff like, it's your fault that Dorian is taken over blah blah why weren't you here, why didn't you get reinforcements, why are you so selfish, I was so irritated. Part of me was yelling, "CHAOL SHE FREAKING HAD TO GET AWAY FROM HER AUNT BECAUSE SHE'S HELLA SCARY, but here you are going, "why didn't you bring reinforcements?"

Also, when Rowan was taking care of her when she overused her magic, I was thinking, "I OFFICIALLY SHIP. I GIVE YOU MY BLESSING ROWAELIN."

message 1368: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Sunga (amelsunga) | 17 comments Aelin and Rowan forever.
Im not saying our queen needs anyone to be complete, but Rowan is perfect for her, no- they're perfect for each other.
I don't hate Chaol, i dont approve of all his actions and the way he's been handling Aelin's fae blood, but think of this, he was raised that way, he's captain of the guard, what little knowledge he has of the fae has long been vanished by the king he serves, and it might even be twisted. I think he's trying to cope in the best way he can, granted - its not good haha. But I cant completely hate the guy, you know. The 1st two books, he was a guide, a mentor a friend and lover, bad or good he's helped Aelin reach wherever she is now.

message 1369: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) Yea I don't hate him either. I like Chaol, but I just hate how he acted.
And I agree Celeana didn't need a man to be her badass self. But I love love stories and I love Celeana and Roawn and I never want it to end.

message 1370: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Sunga (amelsunga) | 17 comments True that. Rowan + Aelin forever and ever, and in the afterlife.

message 1371: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I don't feel Chaol was acting like an ass. For me the way he acted is completely understandable, I didn't hate it at all. He was just desperate.
Aelin was acting pretty terrible too. They were both being horrible to each other okay. They are both at fault, and it is completely understandable.

message 1372: by Yelena (new)

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) I think when Aelin was being terrible to him it was in retaliation to the way he was acting towards her.

I agree! He did something with good intentions in mind but it ended up being what cost him Celeana. He didn't do anything to hurt her on purpose, and her being Fae scared him because he wasn't used to seeing magic and faes. It also shows in later books how he desperately is trying to find ways to fix what he broke, trying to make amends the way he knows how to. Maybe he didn't outright say sorry directly, but it must have been hard for him too.
He did sacrifice his position for her, his life later on and people still feel like he is in the wrong. I understand him, he did something wrong that he also realized later and he tried to fix it - the way every human in that situation would have done. Chaol is only human, and Celeana did him wrong too - it was never only his fault.

YUP YUP YUP. DID YOU STEAL THE WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH? Rowan and Aelin or just Aelin would be amazing (although I think if Aelin was left to herself, she might go a little crazy. She has some serious anger management issues, and I think she needs companionship).

message 1376: by Lexie (new)

Lexie @Albertina Thank you! You're saying exactly what I think :D

message 1377: by sophie (new)

sophie (flowersforallmyrooms) Okay so Rowaelin is OTP. I will forever ship Rowaelin and I thought that Chaolaena was the one but then Rowan came along and Rowaelin was immediately created.

message 1378: by Diane (new)

Diane (mystifiedswift) I don't think they can be mates... If Rowan already had a mate, then could he have another? This is so confusing...

message 1379: by Sian (new)

Sian Dawes (sianyyd) | 33 comments Well they're not mates yet so maybe it's when the bond is formed that they can't hurt each other

message 1380: by Jess S (new)

Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments I don't think we should worry about that bite. Either the bond hasn't formed or more likely this seems to me to be a fae mating trait that is acceptable amongst their kind and not to be considered 'harm'. Remember rowin says it's wrong to bite the female of another male. Not that biting another is unacceptable which means it's more of a fae custom between males and females. Sarah wrote the fae species as a smart, agile, trickster, and territorial race. So his biting her is merely a territorial display. The equivalent of a human male cupping his girl friends lower back. It would be wrong if some man you didn't know we're to walk up to u and do that but if it's your boyfriend he may have earned that familiarity with you.

Diane (mystifiedswift) But, is it possible for them to be mates if Rowan already had one?

message 1384: by Sian (new)

Sian Dawes (sianyyd) | 33 comments It doesn't say anything about not being allowed more than one mate! so my fingers are crossed!

message 1385: by sophie (new)

sophie (flowersforallmyrooms) Hahahahaha. THEY MUST HAVE 10 MILLION BABIES.

message 1386: by Diane (new)

Diane (mystifiedswift) @Sam Really? Well, that explains it

message 1387: by Hallie (new)

Hallie (2amreading) | 34 comments I am absolutely in love with the rowaelin ship factor. I think that, if it is possible, that they both have a second mate. It would be pretty cool if Aelin and Rowan were not only carranam but also each other's second mate.

message 1388: by fabricofbooks (new)

fabricofbooks | 54 comments It's also cool that Lucien is (view spoiler). This introduces the possibility of second mates being a possibility. It is also possible that Aelin could have two mates, one for her human side and one for her fae side. Let me know what you think on these theories.

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) Diane wrote: "But, is it possible for them to be mates if Rowan already had one?"

A fellow fangirl on Twitter had asked this and SJM replied that having two mates is completely possible and that it is not mentioned in the series yet. I like to put emphasis on the YET.

message 1391: by Tristen (last edited Jun 01, 2016 03:15PM) (new)

Tristen (bo0kenthusiast) I wonder who Aelin would end up with if not Rowan? Like Nesryn is with Chaol and SJM is kind of pushing Dorian and Manon. So if she ends up dumping Rowan, THOUGH I REALLY HOPE SHE DOESN'T, what other options are there?

message 1392: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Well, I guess everyone thinks Dorian, but my point is always that we've been down that road, and it was a bit of a fail. They just didn't click. And am I the only one who thinks Nesryn is a bit of a copy of Aelin, only... Quieter?

message 1393: by Reigh (last edited Jun 08, 2016 05:07AM) (new)

Reigh (goodreadscomreigh_17) @ Grace Meredith "And am I the only one who thinks Nesryn is a bit of a copy of Aelin, only... Quieter? "

Really? I actually thought Nesryn ,as a character, is quite different from Aelin. I guess the fact that they can both fight pretty well (Aelin's obvs better tho) is similar, but other than that I don't see similarities at all.
