SERIOUSLY though I have a hard time running (or even jogging), so hopefully this will help. I LOVE YOU NORIS!

I LOVE Their Romance :D

message 1255: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (greciandaisy) | 174 comments Honestly whenever I read about Celaena/Aelin training it makes motivates me to work out too! Like in books 1-2 I thought about what it would be like to ACTUALLY train with Chaol and it made me push myself harder rofl! Except of course not to the point of throwing up like Celaena did in the beginning lol xD

message 1256: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Lydia, I agree. Those scenes were bae, and EVEN when she threw up, it strengthened their relationship (in a really weird way) because he never made fun of her for it.

Noris | 574 comments Thank you girld. You know, this is what I love about Sarah (and some other authors too) they create females characters who pushes all of us to be better than what we actually are. No matter if it's about fashion, sports, training, a job or knowledge... This girls are amazing... Really amazing, a good example for all of us.

The bad thing about male characters... They're all a dream. I swear on god that if I find a guy like Rowan... I soo damn marry him! Even if I don't believe in marriage. Who the hell cares? To share my entire life with a guy like him??? So damn yes!

message 1258: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Noris, LoL me too!!!

YES NORIS YES! I'm only 14 years old but to hell with the teenage years, as well! :)

message 1260: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 154 comments @Noris the only flaw in the male characters is :
Chaol is a jerk
Rowan seemed a little* sadistic at the start of HoF (but he's still my bbf*)
Dorian was a player

*by little I mean a lot

*bbf standing for Book Boyfriend

message 1261: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 44 comments @Taylor BOOK BOYFRIEND!!!!! hahahaha that made me laugh so hard! That's the best! That should be a thing!

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments Who thins we should change the tittle of this conversation to: Aelin and Rowan? Any thoughts?

The Court of Kindles (thecourtofkindles) | 12 comments I can finally join in discussions now I've finished the book! Also I am totally shipping Rowan & Aelin. They better end up together in a happily ever after by the end or my wee hearts gonna break!

message 1269: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 44 comments @Suzie, I completely agree!!!!!! I hope they really end up together!

message 1270: by [deleted user] (new)

Agreed!

I and Some of My Goodreads Friends Called it from Heir of Fire Over a Year Ago That Rowan and Aelin Would Happen

The Court of Kindles (thecourtofkindles) | 12 comments To be fair it was kinda obvious in heir of fire that it was gonna happen. Like ridiculously obvious!

message 1272: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 44 comments Right?!! Literally one of the reasons that I loved Heir of Fire!

message 1273: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Cecilia, thank you, and you're right Celeana did die with Arobyn.

Ginny, I knew that too! As soon as I read HoF, I was just like "Ohhhh, this Rowan goin to be trouble!!!!" LOL

message 1275: by Josh (new)

Josh Rogan | 9 comments I hate it so much, mainly because it plays into Maas's inability to introduce a male character that doesn't hook up with Aelin. Yeah Dorian and her are just friends now, and Chaol and her have moved on, but seriously? Is it literally impossible for Aelin to meet, befriend, and remain only friends with a male character that isn't related to her? Rowan and her had an awesome Padawan/Master, BFF vibe that was amazing. Why can't a male and female character just get along with no sexual or romantic tension. They shared a bedroom last book and managed to remain completely platonic, and yet we couldn't get through a quarter of this one without the "Oh no I shouldn't feel this way but I do, I must supress this because it is so wrong but feels so right". God thats so dumb and overused and I'm sick of it. BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sorry, as you can tell, yeah Im not really feeling it.

message 1276: by Bree (new)

Bree (breeshan) | 59 comments Yes. Celaena has dated Sam, and Dorian, and Chaol, and now she has moved onto Rowan. I think Arobynn even had a "thing" for her. I'm used to triangles, but four guys is a lot (not counting Arobynn). I'm hoping that she commits to Rowan, and that they can have a mature relationship. I don't think I could handle it if she fell in love with another guy (in such a short time-span).

message 1277: by Laura (new)

Laura | 71 comments Completely agree with both of you Josh and Bree! I definitely preferred Rowan and Aelin as friends as well! But I hope that this is the last guy Aelin will be with because I'm sick of the switching.

message 1278: by Bree (new)

Bree (breeshan) | 59 comments @Laura:)
In Throne of Glass I totally liked Chaol and Celaena together. Then something happened... and she dislikes him now. It broke my heart:( I still get peeved at Celaena for trashing everything that Chaol does. Now, I'm hooked on Rowan, so I'm hoping they stay together:) They had a good platonic relationship to begin with, but I knew something was going to happen because Rowan is so darn attractive, and can hold his own with Celaena. They are a good match.

message 1279: by Laura (new)

Laura | 71 comments Yeah have to say I loved Chaol and Celaena when they were together but I do like her with Rowan I just thought it happened a bit too quickly and could've been done a bit better. I really hope Chaol and her properly make up though and become friends!

message 1280: by Josh (new)

Josh Rogan | 9 comments Like even Aedion who's her cousin still has this weird possessive tension with her that comes off very Targaryen-esque

message 1281: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte (swords-and-shields) | 32 comments I'm not a big fan of the Aelin x Rowan, but I hope they are endgame as I would like to see her with some one long term, not short term like the others. lol

I really liked Rowan and Aelin as close friends in Heir of Fire and I completely agree with what you have to say Josh. I felt the whole physical attraction between the two was awkward in Queen of Shadows, and I disliked the way that Maas handled the Chaol and Celaena's relationship as well.

message 1282: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I don't think the Aelin and Rowan relationship was handled badly in QoS. It made sense to me. Taking into account that their relationship was already a great one and then they had to leave each other for a while, their feelings probably grew even more while they were away from each other. I'm not even a huge fan of Rowan but I think the romance was handled fine. As for Aelin and Chaol, Chaol was going through major character development and think what happened to him in HoF, he lost everything! His honour, his position that he worked so hard for, he found out his king really is bad and everything he's been told about magic and stuff is all a lie, his best friend sacrificed himself for him to get away - and then Chaol found out from Aelin about the black collar - and when Aelin comes back, the one he used to love, she comes back changed. I think Chaol's behaviour was completely logical, and Aelin was just retaliating, since they always used to do things like that anyway. Granted Aelin probably could've been a little bit nicer, but she had a lot in her hands too.

message 1283: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Lexey, so true, this is why I like this story so much, side characters play a big part in the story even if it does not seem like it.

message 1284: by Noris (new)

Noris | 574 comments Exactly!

message 1285: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I agree. I think that should be more common in books. The focus shouldn't always have to be in the main main characters, but the side characters can be just as important too. Every character has a role to play!

message 1286: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments It's a bigger picture

message 1287: by Jess S (new)

Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments I just think some of you need to take into perspective how young she is and how rare it is for someone to meet and fall in love with the first person they meet. I just don't see why you have a problem with Rowan and her relationship. Sam was her first love, Chaol was rebound guy, Dorian a flirtation, and Rowan well... if you look at the denial she gave to her relationship with Sam and applied that to HoF with Rowan you'll see that she loved them both but didn't easily admit it to herself. So for me it was easy to see that a real relationship was growing in HoF. And secondly you're all looking at it from the perspective that she's entirely human, I'd like to remind you that she's not. She's got a little fae in her too and if you look at faery lore, which admittedly Maas has altered some, but faerys are known to be flirty, promiscuous, stealthy and clever with the truth. So stop being so harsh and try looking at it in a different way.

message 1288: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 182 comments I agree with you wholeheartedly, Jess. It was fairly obvious to me in HoF that Aelin was in denial. She protested far too much for her feelings not to be clear.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

message 1290: by Jess S (new)

Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments Thanks for the back up girls. Btw Katie I love that pic of Rowan that's exactly how I'd picture him

This was so well said! I completely agree

message 1292: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 154 comments @Cecilia I know !! And that's what I love about the ToG series . . . They don't always end happily which is WAY more realistic.
I just can't believe we have to wait a year to read bout our favourite ship <3

Om my, you brightened my day. You are Hilarious!!

And I would only change the "sleep" part because no matter how much ridiculous bargaining I do with myself, i always end up reading the whole stinking book through the night> I'd be a great extra for the Walking Dead the following day..

message 1294: by Josh (new)

Josh Rogan | 9 comments I guess I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you all. The tone of Rowan and Aelin's relationship changed DRASTICALLY from the last book to this one. Even after the entire Blood Oath ordeal last book, Rowan was still his snarky self. Then this book comes around and suddenly it's all "I've been a warrior for centuries, I should be more disciplined, why can't I resist" a.k.a. the most overused trope of relationship ever.

To me it just seems like Aelin is literally incapable of having a normal friendship with any male characters. Rowan was the mentor figure, someone snarky enough to keep Aelin in line, yet compassionate enough to break through the exterior and truly care. Instead of this complex dynamic of non-sexual, non-romantic love and bond, its changed to just like "Meh, generic immortal love interest number #97"

Natalie Woodruff | 23 comments Natalia wrote: "Who thins we should change the tittle of this conversation to: Aelin and Rowan? Any thoughts?"

I think we should keep it as Celaena and Rowan so as to not spoil new readers :)

Walking Dead + Game of Thrones = Greatest TV shows of all time :D

@Natalie you're right.

message 1297: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Natalie I see your point, I thought of that too but I guess we should put to a vote maybe? I free with that too

message 1298: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Taylor, thank you I been waiting for someone to notice that :-D.!
@Natalie thank you too!

message 1299: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yea but I don't think ironworks matter if we changed it to Aelin and Rowan since Rowan doesn't come into the story until we find out that Celaena is Rowan anyway so it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

message 1300: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Let me retype that.

It wouldn't really matter since Rowan doesn't come into the story until we find out Celaena is Aelin anyway so it wouldn't matter that much.
