Does Rowan remind any one else of Chaol? They were both assholes in the beginning. Rowan punched Celeana in the first 3 times. Celeana was on the verge of murdering Chaol. Rowan said it himself; that you can't hurt your mate and yet he's physically inflicted pain on Celeana more than once?

But this was whilst he was still grieving for his last mate and whilst he was under Maeves control... Also Aelin and Rowan weren't even looking to be friends in the beginning and then that changed so who says they can't fall in love? We haven't got any confirmation of whether Fae can have 2 mates... But also who said being mates would be easy? Rowan has only had one mate and isn't all knowing about them... Plus Maeve killed her mate.

There was no possible way for them to be or start being mates at the time, he hated her, she hated him and they started bonding about +180 pages into the book.

I don't think Rowan and Aelin are mates. Aelin even says in QoS (view spoiler) BUT in no way does that mean they can't be in love. Also they are Carranam and bonded so they are connected in 2 other ways on basically a soul/spiritual level at this point. Their relationship is so much MORE now than it was in the beginning of HoF and I know people including myself have said this before, but he was TRAINING her and he looked down upon her because he had no idea what she had endured. Even though Rowan is much older than Aelin, I love how SJM shows that he most certainly does NOT know everything and both he and Aelin misjudged and hated eachother for it in the beginning. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! :)
I agree so much Lydia. Except on the mate thing, I have a feeling that they might become mates at some point; but who knows really? xD
Well IDK because the Mate thing always seemed instantaeuous and uncontrollable. I mean I would love it if they were Mates but I'm just not sure how it works yet, and if you can have more than one. I feel like if you could "Become" mates then wouldn't that be like describing falling in love ? I mean Love comes over time as well so it seems off to me that it would be both immediate AND something that can happen over time. Maybe it will be better explain along with Aelin's immortality/mortality in the next book! xD
Sarah has said a Fae can have more than one mate, and in HoF Rowan tells Aelin that the mate bond sometimes takes time to place so I guess they could be? Don't know haha
Oooh okay I wasn't aware she had confirmed you could have more than one. Thanks for letting me know! And yeah I suppose they could be, But I always wondered if Rowan said that to make her feel better about what happened between her and Chaol. Either way it's practically like Aelin X Rowan are mates at this point anyway lol!
Also the whole scent thing. When she gets a wiff of Rowan, she smell pine and snow and that's the smell of her country! But I ultimately believe that Sam was her first mate, much like lyria was Rowan's first mate, but he died, so now they are mates!
I won't hate it if Aelin and Rowan end up becoming mates, but I will ship Aelin and Dorian to the end! I feel they belong together so much. I believe Aelin and Rowan's relationship would be perfect as an unbreakable friendship, nothing else. He'd be her unfailingly leap protector, them being Carranam (sorry if I spelt it wrong) and bound to each other. I agree that they had great character development in HoF, and I have no problem with how they hated and hurt each other in the beginning but then grew to like each other. Like I said, I won't hate it, but until the very last book in this series, I will remain a Doraelin shipper.
Another thing: The whole Fae never hurt their mates thing. I was thinking. Bc Aelin is Fae, and Dorian has magic (I don't know if he has any kind of Fae blood in him or something), I remember someone said Dorian could be a really powerful Demi-Fae. Anyway to my point; Aelin and Dorian have never hurt each other! Please correct me if I'm wrong people but Im pretty sure they never have. (Also I haven't read QoS yet so plz don't yell at me if I'm wrong). In CoM when you-know-what happens and they're outside the room Celaena scrapes her nails along Dorian's cheek but she doesn't hurt him. Perhaps something stopped her? Something no one knows.
I do know of this part in QoS where Aelin apparently tries to kill Dorian yes.
1. That's because he's under the control of the Valg, he's not himself.
And 2. But she still doesn't succeed does she.
I believe there is something there, between them. I will never stop being a Doraelin shipper till the very end.
Lexie your Loyalty to Dorian is totally understandable (I love him) and you're right about them never hurting eachother! QoS Spoiler >> (view spoiler) And Dorian is a descendant of Gavin and Elena (who was Fae) so it's totally possible he is Demi-Fae!! I never thought of that before but it would make sense.

I honestly feel that Aelin and Rowan don't even need to become mates anymore. They are bonded in so many other ways beyond that, that I don't think it would even make much of a difference in their relationship. However I'd still be thrilled if we find out they are mates :)

People its SO CLEAR its Rowan. He accepts her, she knows she can be herself with him. They are mated and carranam to wish anything else for her is folly. give it up.
Don't worry Jess I completely accept Rowlin as end game! I just love all of the other characters and like thinking about the possibilities! (so many really!) ;)
omg are there no Aelin/Chaol shippers here? I feel that is more likely that Aelin/Dorian.... I was a tiny bit sad about the Chaol ship sinking, but have NO complaints about Rowan- whatsoever.
Aw I love Chaol! Even though he had some pretty intense resentment in this book I still understand why and I mean honestly SOMEONE has to ask questions every now and then. xD I loved when Celaena was with Chaol but I am fully committed to Rowlin now! I guess I fall just as hard as she does for each new man LOL.
I don't know about you guys but I read in another book series that [Warning you might hate me for this but that just what read your choise] the oldest way of marring is by cutting you palm and unite that hand with the other person's bloody palm and say you bows O_O. But think of it.

I just wanna add a thing about Aelin and Rowan hint (a big one if u ask me), remember when Aelin was dragged by the Valg princes into the darkness and Rowan was doing everything to get to her? even as he heard Lyria's voice he didn't want to get there bc of her, but bc Aelin was there+ when Aelin released her power Rowan's friends had to create shields to protect themselves from the fire, but Rowan didn't. It wouldn't hurt him. And as well as I rememeber there's said that the only explanation of it is bc he's Aelin's mate, which means she couldn't hurt him.

I am more along the lines of thinking Dorian and Aelin will be the endgame, no matter who they are seeing currently. I'm okay if they don't, but it's just a theory I have. It's funny to hear ppl defending this Rowan/Aelin ship just as strongly as they defended Chaol and Celaena/Aein. "It's meant to be! It is..." I think only the end will tell. To be honest, as a non chaolena shipper, even I was quite disappointed how quickly their supposed epic love for each other just crashed and burned with no left over feelings of broken hearts, jealousy, regret, pining, ...etc. When have you broken up with someone you loved so completely and just sort of shrug it off and get over it, especially when you've gone through some significant things with that person? I Don't know, I think there could have been more there upon their seeing each other again, even despite the things they'd gone through in HoF.
I'd just like to also throw out there that Dorian too has always accepted her: assassin, fae, or supposed "enemy" queen.
I really hope Celorian is endgame because I ship them 100%.
Same here! Celorian (or Doraelin whatever you want to say) FOREVER! They belong together! That's what happened in the original story!
Rowan and Aelin. Girls, not giving spoilers about my fav moments is the biggest effort of my life! By the way, they are mates, if not, it doesn't even care, probably their carranam bond is bigger and more important. Why Sarah haven't said aloud? Just answer When has Aelin said to someone, whoever, "I love you"? Yeah... NEVER! I don't think Rowan has done it, neither, so when this moment between this idiots happens... It will be so epic! Pd: Claps for the autor control. I would 've given a damn about it, but wow!

I don't really care if they are mates, I just love these two so much. I think their past, power and character compliment each other and kind of feel warm and happy with every scene they are together.
I really think that Maeve will somehow try to work use Rowan and the carranam bond to enslave Aelin to her will. It just seems to me that that conversation Rowan and Aelin had in HoF about the carranam bond is there for a reason. Or maybe using the blood bond to get at Aedion...there is a reason both Aelin and Aedions their mothers hid their existance from Maeve we just dont know what..Does anyone else feel like I"m on to something?
I just feel that Dorian is gone. Rowan would be perfect, and she really likes him too.To be honest, I felt kind of shocked when Dorian spotted Manon and just fell for her like that, after the whole Sorcha thing, just because she was 'So beautiful'. If he can fall for a woman just with a click of a finger, it means he isn't in for a proper relationship. I'm sorry for the shippers, and I USED to ship Dorian and Celaena together but then in Queen of Shadows it just turned out the best. Plus, Celaena Sardothien isn't Celaena Sardothien, she is Aelin Galanthnius, and she will not be afraid to pick who she wants.

Totally see what you did there. xD I just want to add though, that Dorian isn't in love with Manon because she is beautiful ( though he does acknowledge this) I think he is just curious about her and he REMEMBERS her from when he was imprisoned by the collar because of something to do with her eyes. Remember how the Blackbeak Matron chose Manon to be her heir as soon as she saw her eyes? Something about the Gold eyes and the Valg Kings are connected and the Valg inside Dorian was afraid of Manon so Dorian remembers Because no one else could get through at the time. At least that's how I perceived them. :)

Only two I'm shipping now are Aedion and Lysandra. Rowan was my second choice for Aelin, so I'm ok with them. As for the rest, it's just wait and see.

Yeah but Yrene will be kind and gentle, exactly what Dorian needs. I don't know I just basically ship Dorian with anyone but Manon. Also, why are we talking about this on the Celaena and Rowan topic? Haha.
There is too many healer things going on with Dorian, not sure if Yrene will remind him of Sorcha too much.
Maybe Dorian fell in love with Sorscha bc he realised that's what he truly needed. But maybe it wasn't actually full on real love, and maybe Sorscha was killed bc Yrene is who he's really destined to be with. I don't know I'm just exaggerating. Basically anyone will be better for him than Manon. For everything he's been through he needs someone who will finally love him back - as Sorscha did - and take care of him and be a strong supportive ruler beside him.
I'm not saying it will happen but if Asterin could learn to love, maybe Manon can too.
