SOLVED. It's about like these two guys, and the one short guy thinks he's super special, and the ending is sad [s]

It's about these two guys, one of the guys is apparently short. I don't remember much about the main plot, except that they both like basketball. The short guy becomes a soldier and when he comes back, he protects these foreign kids. In an airport, this one guy places a bomb so the two guys perform a basketball move and the short guy dies from the bomb. The short guy is the main character, and the taller guy is the narrator, I think. It's....I don't know. Hope you can help! I know this is sorta vague.
