He knew her personally and obviously was very concerned about her safety. Taya felt comfortable and secure with him. I think it was her input that got him on her team. Personal involvement is never a good thing when protecting someone, but we wouldn't have a lot of books if everyone played by the rules!
I wish we had been privy to that decision. I wonder why the author left it out. I concluded that they felt his previous rescue of her would be helpful.
That didn’t make sense to me. This was a conflict of interest not to mention Matt was concerned enough about Nate and what he was dealing with to put him in a personal situation.
If they hadn't put Nate on Taya's detail, he would have taken a leave of absence and protected her anyway.
