ABANDONED. Help me find this book - please?

Town where the outline/image/ghost of the deceased are frozen where they died/showing how they died. Horror possibly Dean Koontz or Stephen King??
Starts out in a bar where there is a box covering a ghost n it ends up being a woman that was killed in the bar.
Hankering to re-read please help. :)
