Interview with Author Vicki Batman
Hosted By Accredited Author Ken Donaldson
1.I have seen you, as I am sure many other readers are familiar with you from the self-publishing forums, give us a little insight into your background as a writer.
I am self-taught. I have always been a huge reader and always wanted to write. I wrote, edited and produced several newsletters over a lifetime; however, when a friend posed a particular question, I felt a "Do or Die" moment. I did the Do and in doing so, have taken myself somewhere I can flourish and learn and grow.
2.Tell me what other authors do you enjoy, who inspired you or influenced you the most to become a writer?
I've always been a particular fan of mysteries and cut my teeth on the Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, and eventually moved on to more adult books--Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, Agatha Christie, the romantic suspense mysteries of Mary Stewart, the romances of Emilie Loring, and then I discovered Dick Francis. When Handsome asked me why I liked him so, I confessed "I wish I could write like him." It took a long time before I tried. I still read a lot of mysteries, funny romances, and historicals.
3.What made you decide upon the genre you are currently pursuing?
Romantic comedy mystery: Romance because I like a happy ever after; comedy because I like a good laugh, and mystery because I like being on the edge of my seat. People are surprised about the comedy part. I never thought myself funny until a friend said something where we were on a girlfriend trip. It is a challenge, however, to be funny.
4.What is special about how you write? Do you have any set routine of method you follow?
I workout very early, shower and eat breakfast, then sit down and work, taking a break for lunch and household chores, work until dinner. Temporarily Employed is my first big book, debuting October 17. I've sold and pubbed 25 other romantic comedy pieces and some essays too. My blog site is: http://vickibatman.blogspot.com
5.What is the future plans you see for your writing next?
I hope to sell another Temporarily Employed mystery or two... lol. I hope to sell more short stories too.
6.Do you have any brief thoughts in passing you would like to share with the readers?
Today's publishing market offers readers much more to indulge in than ever before which gives someone like me a chance! I hope you can read my work, and if you like it, tell others and/or write a review. Happy reading.
Thank you Vicki, certainly has a real pleasure to talk with you and I do wish you all the very best in the future too. To all the readers whom have enjoyed getting to know Vicki better make your reading pleasures always be memorial. Now we have reached the end and must conclude this Interview. Thank you one and all.
