I have to believe she would have used them professionally, like other modern authors do, to promote work and communicate with fans (not necessarily individually, but in a broad way); broadcast signings/appearances, release dates.

I mean, a temporally displaced JA wouldn't (like she grew up in the 19th century and got transplanted to the 21st), but a Jane who grew up in this time totally would. I think she would still keep her private life private, but she would have a public self to share. If she didn't do it, she might have a publicist/assistant that would do it for her depending on her level of contemporary fame.

Shattered-Dream-Renewed-Hopes (sallysmith) | 10 comments Definitely twitter, it has more complexity and class in it -.-

p.s I am only saying this because i have tried using twitter but it was too hard!

Manda (pemberliegh) | 96 comments Ok, I think I have definitive proof Jane would have been all over social media. She basically compiled her own comments section from people who sent her feedback. And some of it is pretty harsh. This just screams twitter or fb or yt comments. It is like she was trying to invite trolling before social media was even a thing.

Louise Sparrow (louisex) | 304 comments I love that. I don't think the varying opinions of the books have changed much in all that time either! :)
