i know I'm too lat to join this round...but I was reading the rules and it looks like fun :) I am trying to make heads or tails of the rules...so that I can play next time. can someone explain a bit better?

Basically, you put together a shelf of books that you want to read. Maybe they're new books you've been looking forward to, maybe they're things that have been getting dusty on your shelf and you need a little nudge to get them read. Whatever works for you. You'll get put into a group. You pick 3 options for every member of your group, from the shelves they made for themselves, and they'll all do the same for you. Then you have two months to read at least 5 of the books picked for you. Some of us try to read 1 pick from everyone. This time around, the groups are a little smaller, so quite a few of us have signed up to get extra picks. But all of that is optional.

I know it probably sounds complicated, but the steps are broken down and clearly defined as we go. "This is the sign up time. Now we're picking for our group members. Now it's time to read." So it makes more sense as you play along.

quick question: for the bonus picks, do we just pick for the people that we haven't picked for already? ie, the people not in our group?

Beppy I think everyone in the bonus picks has been picking for everyone regardless of groups. :)

ok...makes sense now :) it's kind of like a pick it for me challenge? do you have to pick according to shelf? I know there was a challenge( I forget where now) I think it was in RLftRI...where we had to pick 5 genres...and then someone picked from those shelves...and also books that were new in those genres...so 2 books for each :)

You have to pick from each person's shelf, no new recommendations, but there are no rules beyond that.
