Er... This thread is for suggestions on how to improve the group. ^^;;;

If you'd like to suggest group reads, please go to the Light Novel Group Read Suggestions thread (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) or the Novel Group Read Suggestions thread (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) to recommend group reads.

Or, if these are general recommendations for what people should read, you can post a thread in the recommendation folder (like a "My Recs" thread).

Sorry if the thread wasn't very clear.

Aaron Nagy | 76 comments Can you make a subforum for talking about the latest fan translations? Or do I just open that up under light novel discussion?

For some series there is already a good discussion under where it got posted like SAO but others that are just done on BT there is nowhere for me to discuss the latest chapter.

Aaron, you're welcome to discuss anything you want, really. Just create a thread in the light novel or novel section for that series/book. The only rule is that there should be no sharing of illegal copies or downloads of books (since we can get in a lot of trouble for that).

I'd like to try making a challenge for our group that's either six-months or a year long. Does anyone have any suggestions that they'd like to see? :)

Fanta Miste | 473 comments I would like to teach you guys Japanese so that you can read Japanese books in Japanese, and also any information on Japanese site. I am still thinking about how to do well, and hope that it comes true.

Leaving that aside, I would like to know what everyone wants here.

James (jamesdouma) | 51 comments Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but looked around and didn't see an obviously better thread. This is a notice to point out a site that might be useful to people looking for light novels. The site in question is a store for ebooks from a japanese association of publishers which includes the biggest LN publishers in japan. I just noticed that they now have a section that features english language translations of their most popular stuff. I haven't used the english language stuff, but I like the japanese language stuff quite a bit.

I mostly read fiction in Japanese the last few years (over 100 books now!) and my favorite source for novels for the last few years has been https://bookwalker.jp - they have most of the popular stuff in e book format, publish it promptly after the paper version comes out, and you can get reader apps for phones, tablets, PC's and so forth. They do all kinds of stuff but their bread and butter is manga and light novels. The english translation section is at https://global.bookwalker.jp

James, thanks for those links. I'd forgotten about BookWalker (you mentioned it in another thread). Definitely a great source for Japanese language novels and LNs.

Hey Guys, I know the last challenge has been over for a few weeks without me replacing it, but I'm not sure if I should create another challenge for the group and if so, what that challenge should be.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Let me know, and we can get one started in February! :)

message 11: by Rose (new)

Rose (raddevlin) | 279 comments Ah, I was thinking about asking about this as well!

What about a publisher challenge? One challenge could be to read one book from as many different publishers as possible and another challenge could be to read as many books as you can from one single publisher. There are a fair amount of Japanese novel publishers now so I think it should be doable. :)

Hi Jackson,

I'm afraid we are a Japanese Novel and Light Novel group, so we don't read manga here. Might I suggest one of our sister groups, which you can find in this group's description?

Matthew Herring (matthewgherring) | 3 comments I think this is the place to post this. I just finished the first two volumes of The World's Fastest Level Up, and if you like a good dungeon crawl with an MC whose supposedly weak unique ability suddenly becomes a cheat power and lets him level up at a tremendous rate, this series fits the bill nicely. I can't read Japanese, so I'm stuck with the English translation releases, but it is worth the wait.

This is more for how to improve the group rather than reading suggestions

You should probably put recommendations in the Recommendations folder

Number 3 of the LN sequence recently came out. I have enjoyed the series. Thanks for the recommendation.
