okay....so I've avoided this book so far, until now. I'm only reading it because we're buddy reading.

Prison, by far, would be one of my worst worst worst nightmares.... I've always worked hard to live by the law of the land.....I couldn't imagine committing such a huge crime - even so young....

that she was charged and plead guilty
that it was almost 10 years after she did it

but at the end of the day, she broke the law. She knowing moved drugs and drug money across countries and got it into the US.....she's lucky with her sentence (hide spoiler)]

sorry guys, I finished this one but wasn't able to update
I had it with me all day as I ray errands (and waited in the endless lines...)

but now that I'm done

time (view spoiler)[ I'm glad for the end where she could reflect and feel bad about what she did. that she could meet so many women who were addicted to drugs or had taken drugs -and know that she helped them get it (even if she didn't explicitly say that she was sorry for that)
I also like that she noted that she could have easily reached out to family to help her but she didn't
and that she took ownership for her part in it (hide spoiler)]

Larry could fly all over to see her - including to chicago
and she could almost buy anything she wanted from the commissary, which was very different from most of the other inmates (hide spoiler)]

but (view spoiler)[ I can't like. I found it boring. I didn't care about a lot of the small moments that she wrote about
rubbing Pop's feet and kind of getting caught
about smacking that one girls' hands when she was running the track
some of that stuff was taxing and made the story weigh down and slooow way down...

I am six chapters in.

I agree that it would be terrible (view spoiler)[ to have that sentence hanging over your head for 10 years. (hide spoiler)]

I like the different personalities and the day to day explanations of her life but I feel that by this point, the TV series does a better job developing the characters.

I finished. I liked the book. I feel the show complements it well. I understand they have taken many liberties and stretched the truth a lot with the show but it certainly makes it entertaining!
