Booknblues | 12137 comments Kathleen Winter jumped at the chance to board a ship traveling through the newly opened Northwest Passage. The ship which would follow Roald Amundsen’s route through the passage was filled with experts of all sorts geologists, historians, artists, anthropologists, native people and Winter a writer. The resulting book, Boundless: Tracing Land and Dream in a New Northwest Passage is both a memoir and a travelogue.

I appreciate that Winter was very detailed about each stop which her ship made, because that provided me with the opportunity to track and see the path of the voyage. I liked that she introduced us to other members of the cruise so we could further understand her experiences. I didn't always love all of her personal stories, but I did feel that she was an interesting person in her own right.

Reading this book helped me cool of in the hot California
Central Valley Summer.
