Mrs. MacDonough is a great character, and I loved that scene too, Sarah. I was kind of shocked at what happened with Percy. I haven't read much the last two days. I'm spending all my time compulsively checking for toppler updates. I tried listening to the audio book of Hexed at bedtime, and quickly fell asleep. Finding my place again may be a challenge.

Yay! I liked this ending a lot more than Hounded. I just found it more satisfying for some reason.
I've just finished too. I agree with you Rusalka about the ending. This series is really fun to read.
Indeed! I need to read some chunksters before I head back to the next book. Lexx wants us to find a bottle of Tullamore Dew now too.

That was my favourite scene in the book. Mrs. MacDonagh is quite the interesting woman.
True Casceil. I tend not too look to far ahead at book titles/synopsis for series. In fact, once I'm in to a series, I very rarely read the synopsis before diving in with it - that happened with this book. It also happens with some of my favourite authors too - I know I didn't have a clue what The Ocean at the End of the Lane was going to be about before I started it - I just read it because it was Gaiman!As much as I love this series, I don't think I'd want to read the books back to back. Not many books I read have humour to them so I like to space them out so I have a constant flow. I'm thinking I might need to get back in to some Pratchett again too to up my humour reading levels.

I'm actually not a fan of reading series back to back anyway, so I don't burn out. Lexx thinks I'm crazy (I think he's on book 4 now) but I need to spread myself around... in a literary way anyway ;)
There are series I read back-to-back, and then there are others I like to space out. With this writer, I think the humor is fresher if you take some time off between books and read other things for a change of pace.
I read this series this year with another group. We did one a month. i was a good pace for me. this being said, the 3rd and the last (7th) were the one i like the least.
Now that you all have finished , I am finally going to start - as soon as I get some house cleaning done. :D
Cherie, I'm glad you're just starting. I'm just gonna be coming back to this one this weekend. Life got in the way. :) I'm just shy of halfway.

Thanks all of you. I finally finished Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch and can move over to this one. I cannot seem to focus on more than one thing at a time lately.
I sometimes read multiple books at once, but I would not want to try to read Good Omens and Hexed at the same time. It sounds like it might be very taxing on one's brain.
I agree. There are only so many mythologies one can focus on at once!

I did manage to listen to a short Australia book today at work, but I need to re-listen again. I am sure I missed something, because it is almost at the end and I do not understand what happened. It was only available in audio from my library and it is very good to listen to, but I think I might like to see the print version. All of the English/Australian character names are very confusing trying to remember who they all are. Harry Heathcote of Harry Heathcote of Gangoil. Have you read it Rusalka?

Yep, he wrote one. I had to go look him up. Wow, he wrote a lot of books! I never heard of him before. I only found HHoG by accident. I located and bought an ebook version to check over tomorrow.@ Hexed. I started but I can't keep my eyes open any longer. Atticus is fighting the big bug demon in his yard. I'm not sure I "got" all of the conversation he had with the vampire.
How can there be more than one version of Thor? Thor 1.0 (the original) and (the comic book)? Aren't they the same guy?

He's not the original god but kids (and adults) buying the magazines who worshipped him made him in to being - well that's what I got from it! So now there are 2 Thors.
Thanks, Sarah. Very interesting. Makes me wonder which one Leif wants to kill now. The 1.0, I guess. If he kills one, does the other still exist? I guess so. It is like different planes, where things are slightly different in each and there is some overlap where we can be aware of events and people. Whew, I just finished reading about the Morrigan and Atticus the day after the night club event. I had a few minutes before I went into the building and was a little unsure about Oberon's comment to Atticus "after". Travis answered the question in my status update though. :)I read through all of the spoilers up to where I am at. I definately agree about all the Mary and Mrs. D. stuff. I understand more about how our beliefs can make "the Gods" come alive. Loved Mary's comments about here son.
Hearn throws so much out. I have book marked several names and places to look up. I understand most of the refferences and know who most of the people are, but I like to look things up. I know who Ken Kesey was and about the Magic School bus, but not who the other names referenced like the woman Oberon talked about.
I think I saw a comment about the next book being set in Asgard. I was wondering about Atticus stealing the apple, not that he was going to help Leif.

I made it to Chapter 15 during lunch time. I have a few more book marks to look up names, like, Chris Matthews. "he said on national television that he felt a thrill go up his leg". Doesn't ring any bells with me. Must be that rock I live under. :)

I just got back from the cafaterial with my late lunch. At this time of day, we can still make our own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I agree with Atticus that peanut butter and orange marmalade on wheat bread is "the best" and I like mine with hot, black coffee. Back to work now. Hopefully, I can finish the book tonight. I fell asleep in the chair last night.

Glad you are enjoying your vacation, Laura. I will but I have a few other series books going on right now. If I clear them off, I might pick up the next one sooner than later. I haven't looked to see how many there are. If only two or three, I might read them back to back. If more, I will probably wait. I HATE having to wait for new ones to come out. I always loose track of what I have read and when they start changing the covers it trips me up and I re-buy them again only to find out I have already read them. ARRRGGGG
I knew about peanut butter and jam which I vaguely remember trying as a kid but it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I did used to have peanut butter and marmite though quite a lot! I too thought it was made up with the orange marmalade but I reckon I'd like that better than with the jam as marmalade tends to be sharper.@Cherie - There are LOADS in this series!
Yeah, I had peanut butter and jam once. Wasn't fussed. I know our jam is not as sweet as jelly though. I really thought for a while as a kid that it was jelly as in the desert and couldn't work out why American kids were allowed jelly all the time. Jelly was a "sometimes" food :(Ignoring the obvious marmite comment, that would be rather salty I expect?
Yes I suppose it was a bit salty! Not had the combo for years so I can't remember - also good as a toasted sarnie!
So, peanutbutter and jam is not the same staple, everyday take it in your lunch sandwitch in UK and AUS as it is here in the states? If it were not for peanutbutter and rasperry jam (no seeds), my grand sons would have starved to death before they were three years old. I have a peanutbutter and jelly (I will eat anykind) sandwich at least 3 times a week. I like jam/jelly with or without chunks of fruit in it but my daughter and her boys will only eat it "smooth". Jam and Jelly are pretty interchangable as far as we are concerned. What do you eat with your peanutbutter? Honey is good, banannas and honey is good. I have even eaten peanutbutter and mustard. Peanutbutter and Nutella is good.

@ Rusalka - I finished the 6th book in The Secrets of the Imortal Nicholas Flamel series yesterday. I loved them all!
Just peanut butter. Lexx has peanut butter and bananas on toast. Peanut butter and jelly is a tv thing. Like Halloween and calling school grades ridiculous names instead of yr10. :Pglad you finished it!
Pretty sure I can remember having peanut butter and chocolate spread on toast (not in sandwiches) - I think there was a company who put it in the same jar all stripy - not sure if it is still available or not. But generally, peanut butter on its own!
Oh yeah, we used to get peanut butter & jam in the jar "all stripy", like you said Sarah. What a hot mess that jar would turn into after a few people had dipped into it.
Hmmm... stomach is rumbling. I think I'll go make myself some toast with PB & J.

Rainy but not cold here. 20C!We had great weather during the thanksgiving weekend. My patio door stayed opened all night last night. In October, it rarely happens. I am not complaining.
People usually look at me in a odd way when I say I have never eaten a PB & J sandwich.

wierd, after re-reading some of the comments about Thor 1.0, etc. I started thinking about some stuff in American Gods that I read, but did not absorbe very much - about how the gods came over to America and how new ones are created. I did not appreciate it enough, I think.

I think I like this book more than the first one. Hard to tell as it's been a while since I read book 1. I've definitely had a lot of giggles with it.
