Preorder canceled, never published

Hi all.

When my book became available for pre-order I made a Goodreads listing. However I canceled the pre-order before uploading my manuscript. The pre-order listing was deleted off of amazon, and since the pre-order was canceled I ended up making a new ebook to publish it, which has a different ASIN, a different link, and I am using a different cover.

I understand that older editions and out of print books cannot be deleted, but I'm a little confused about what to do in this case. The book in my listing was never published, and if you try to click on it it will just take you to the blank error message page. Can the link be changed? Can I somehow get the real cover up when the current one was never sold with the book?

Hello Marietta

Librarians can't help you to delete the never-published book in question but staff might. However, you need to use the Contact Us form to put your request to them.

As long as the book record exists on Goodreads, there's no way to remove the Get A Copy-links. But there are things you can do to make potential readers aware the book is not available, details here:

I reverted the change of ASIN you had done for the original pre-order listing, as it's not allowed to remove ASINs or ISBNs of book records from Goodreads.

Instead I added your current Amazon listing as a new record, with its own Kindle ASIN. You can see both versions here:

As a Goodreads Author, you have the ability to chose which of the editions should be displayed as the primary one (to show on your author page, in searches etc). Here's how:
