Ted Galdi (ted_galdi) | 9 comments Hey everyone. A bunch of group members have asked me when my new thriller, Elixir, will be available as a paperback. It was just officially released this week. Check it out on Amazon:

Elixir is a story about a teenage genius who goes on a suspenseful adventure to cure his girlfriend of Ebola.

Sorry if my post came off as spam, guys. It's an author promotion and I did include it in the group thread called "Author Promotions." I apologize if I did something wrong regarding posting guidelines.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Ted had sent me a prerelease copy of the book to review form one of his earlier posts. If we are a reading group with a section called "promotion", it is probably not spam to get authors there. I would prefer that more authors contributed, I recall the days when we had members who went on to fame and fortune.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16925 comments Ted: We appreciate your posting in the folder that Carol created specifically for author promotions. I wonder if some of the reactions may have been because the mobile app might lead you to a thread without overtly promoting the folder containing the post when clicking a notification.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments Ted: I did indeed create this folder for author promotions, so you did nothing wrong there. I guess I hoped for posts from people who also contribute to the group. or something that speaks to our group particularly rather than a generic message. I'll try to think of a way to clarify that in an introductory message, although I don't know how authors approach this or if they take the time to read what's in a folder before posting.

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments We have a bunch of authors who participate on one of my cozy boards and they have, for the most part, been really good about posting stuff about their books only in the threads that are marked for self-promotion. The moderators have a thread that's clearly marked "read before posting" just for self-promotion. If they post something that clearly isn't cozy and don't post anything else, like introducing themselves in threads for that, etc, the posts get deleted. If they participate otherwise and just post in the wrong place, she moves the post and lets them know where it should be. If they continue to post in the wrong place she removes the posts. I really enjoy having the authors around who participate in discussions and things and it makes me likely to at least take a look at their book. When all they do is come on and plug their book, I look at it as spamming. You want to come on and talk about something in a thread, come on in and let's see what you got. You want to look at me as a wallet only, I'm not interested and wouldn't read your book if I were bored to tears and it was the only thing available!
